BakFlip drain tube relocation

The dealer installed Bakflip has the 2 drain tubes closest to the back of my cab (FX4 screw 5.5) extending down and through the bottom of the dealer installed plastic bedliner. I want to relocate them higher up through the hole thats on the side of the bed but need the approx. location of those holes so as to minimize any damage I may do when cutting the side of the bedliner.

Can someone measure the distance from the top of the bed rail down to the hole on the side of the bed and the distance from the rear bed wall to the same hole. I would really appreciate this.

thx

Well I had a chance to look at a another truck with no bedliner and there is no factory hole in the side wall of the bed closest to the cab. Instead there's a flat section that is bumped out about 3" wide can I drill a hole through there and run the drain tube into it?

This is where I ran mine. That cover is plastic. Just drill the hole roughly the same size so the tube fits in snug and you're set.

ibcop,
Hey thanks for the great pic. Using your pic you can see the top right hand side has an area that protrudes out approx. 1" thats were I want to drill and relocate my drain tube. Will the water find its way out from there?

Do you have a 5.5' or 6.5' box? If you have the 6.5' then the hole is already there in the stake pocket so no need to drill. That's where I ran my drain tubes.

Edit: sorry I just re-read your post and see you have a 5.5'.

I have the 5.5 bed so there is no hole in that stake pocket. Is it OK to just drill one?

I don't think it would be any problem. That was going to be my plan before I realized the 6.5' box came with the hole already there. Just treat the bare metal properly after you drill to avoid rust and you should be fine.

Sounds good, that's how I'm gonna proceed.

On a side note I was having water leakage into the bedliner so last night I added a 1/8" foam weatherstrip with adhesive backing (the kind they sale at the big box stores for sealing around house windows and doors). I laid a strip on the drain channel section that the panels rest on. Then I washed the truck and wouldn't you know it, problem solved.
