I took my brand new 2010 screw in today to check the AC. It just don't get cold on max (yes I know the max setting). They checked it out and said everything is in spec. Air charge temp was 44 degrees ambient temp was 73. So I go to pick it up at lunch. Drove it for 30 minutes. and the air charge temp never went below 52. Outside temp at that time was 86. Took it straight back. Ended up having the technician drive it around town. Took it up on the highway and finally got it down to 48.
Just curious if any of you out there are having the same issues? The tech said he had another 2010 F150 for in there for the exact same reason. If it wasn't for the cooled seats I don't know what I would do.

Keep in mind this is not the temp inside the cab. That's the air charge coming from 2" or so down in the vents. That seems to hold the interior temp right around 80 degrees with the AC running 100% MAX and a outside temp of 95 degrees.

I don't think he wants his cab that cold. He's wanting to know what the temperature of the air blowing out of the vent is. The air blowing out should be lower than 73. If not the cab would never get any cooler than 73 and it would take forever.
It's been in the mid-90s around here and my cab definitely cools to below 80, even when the trucks been sitting in the sun all day.
So the cooled seats work well? I've been toying with adding heated/cooled seats to mine.

Ya......My 09 Lariat has less than 3500 miles<6600kms> and no way the A/C is as cold as the "Olden Days" Trucks were........I find the Cooled Seats give you a feeling of being cooler so the A/C doesnt need to be turned up so high?

Yes I love the cooled seats. Love them even more now that I know I'm stuck with mediocre AC. It hasn't even really got hot here yet. 96 degrees with 99% humidity. Gotta love Kansas.
Maybe these AC units were designed for a standard cab. Would probably work well in one with less volume then a screw.

In my '10 I've noticed that in a short 30min~ trip the a/c really doesn't feel all that cold in the cab but man if you go more than an hour it really gets down there. Drove 3 hours straight saturday and back sunday and by the half way mark I was turning it down and the wife had a jacket on lol. It would be nice if it got colder sooner tho, I agree.
I just got my Super Crew last Tuesday, and it is exactly the same way, and I was just going to post this exact same question. This thing is horrible, not even close to what it should be. My chevy that the new owner just drove out of my drive will freeze this Ford solid.
On max a/c, it won't even keep it comfortable in the cab at all. It is cycling on and off. You can feel the temp out of the vents changing temp back and forth.
I wonder if the compressor is kicking on and off to save gas. I have tried to see if there is a relationship between drag on the engine and the air getting warmer. Haven't reached a conclusion as of yet.
This is unacceptable to me driving Missouri, Kansas, and OK in the summer time.
2 trucks ago, I had an 05 chevy and while driving from Liberal KS to Wichita, it was 109 degrees F and I was so cold, I had to turn it down. That, folks, is what A/C is supposed to do. I don't want to run it on max all the time, I want it to make me shiver if I want to.
I hope my dealer doesn't give me the same song and dance, because I am not going to let it drop.

My best advice is try running it on a little slower fan speed. Slower fan speed will mean the incoming air will have more time to cool off as it crosses through the evaporator.
The condenser on these trucks are relatively thin, so it takes a TON of air to cool them off. Only way to get that much air is high way speeds.
General rule of thumb is your AC is working properly if you are getting 1/2 of ambient temperature as your charge.
So my truck ive been seeing around 48-50 lately as temps have warmed up into very high 90s and touching into 100
Oh and at WOT or any high load on the engine, the PCM will turn the clutch off for maximum power

Not even close to WOT. Just driving 65 down the highway. If that is not enough air to cool the condensor, then they put the wrong condensor in this thing, and they need to change it.
Almost all newer cars kick out the clutch at wot. I think it is kicking it out when it hits a hill to try and tweek mileage, or something like that. However, that isn't going to cut it in the summer. It needs to be running all the time.
My 07 Chevy would stay just as cold at idle as it did running down the road.

i must say that i have not been having any real issues with my ac. i just leave it on auto, put it on recirculate, and set my temp to 70. this is on a screw. the old lady and i came back from a friends place last weekend round 87 degrees out and she had to change the temp on her side. she was gettin chicken legs.....(goose bumps) from being cold. thank god for dual air. after running for about 15 mins the fans slow down with the auto setting and maintain a dam cool temp in the cab with my settings this way.
