Change steering wheel control behavior
Change steering wheel control behavior
Hi. New here. Bought new 2010 F-150 Supercrew Lariat. Traded in 2005 Supercab Lariat.
I searched the forums but couldn't locate any answer. On my old Lariat, the steering wheel control for tuning the radio went to the next available station. On my new Lariat, it goes to the next preset. I'd prefer it if the buttons just went forward or backward to the next found station and not presets. Is this something that can be changed?
I see that if I hold the next button down for a second, it goes to the next station, not preset. Still prefer to just go quickly to the next station. Am I out of luck on changing this?
Thanks to everyone for the collective knowledge. This forum kicks ash.

Pretty sure the base system that comes with Lariats. Not familiar with the options. Sticker says under Interior (standard equipment): Sirius Sat Radio N/A AK/HI and Sync Voice Activated System.
My Nav system same way.....Im getting a little too old to change my ways.....If I could scroll up or down channel to channel that would be perfect..........

I'm hoping one of the audio gurus or Ford techs see this and know of a way to reprogram the button functionality.
I suspect you'd have to take it a dealer or audio shop that has the software to program the unit. With the Sync system, it might not be possible.

I think you should just program the channels you want as presets and go on down the road. I seriously doubt you can reprogram the controls since it would be hard-coded into the units' electronics.
Thanks for all the info. I travel around the northeast and am constantly in areas where I'm searching for stations near me. I'll have to get used to it. For home, I don't mind programming the 10 stations I prefer. At least it's 10 and not the 6 it used to be.
I installed the Pioneer z110, and still use the steering wheel controls, It doesnt flip through the presets anymore with the steering wheel button, it just goes to the next available station...and i hate it! Wish it worked the same as the OEM control...oh well.
