"Oil Change Required" warning light
My 2009 F-150 is just under a year old and has a little over 7,500 miles. As it approached 7500 it did a percent countdown of engine oil life remaining. The dealer did the 1st oil change at about 5000 and said next due at 8500. I changed the oil and filter myself but between the owner's manual and the Ford service manual I couldn't figure how to reset the dash warning message. Any ideas?
It is in the owners manual on how to reset. Page 91-92.
All done through the message center.

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
[approximately 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or six months] perform the
following:
1. Press and release the
SELECT/RESET stem to display OIL
LIFE = XXX% HOLD RESET =
NEW.
2. Press and hold the
SELECT/RESET stem for two
seconds and release. Oil life is set to
100% and “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%”
is displayed.
3. While “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%”
is displayed, if a lower oil life start value is desired, press and release the
RESET control to reduce the start value. Each press of the
SELECT/RESET stem reduces the value by 10 percent.
Note: Oil life start value of 100% equals 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or six
months. For example, setting oil life start value to 60% sets the oil life
start value to 4,500 miles (7,200 km) and 108 days.

Thank you
Thanks kingfish51, I didn't think to look thru the Driver control section, just the maintenance section. You are correct, all the necessary steps were on page 92. Will have to re-read that section when I have some spare time.
I also found on my radio message center a function that changed my service interval to 5000 miles. I belive it adjusted the oil life to match (ie 100% = 5000) miles to service change, but I just had my oil changed and haven't put enough miles on the truck to confirm if it is correct yet.

Funny story...my mother-in-law drives an Escape. She calls me one day and says "I have this warning light and I don't know what it means." I respond with "What does it say." Her response: "Change engine oil soon." I had her repeat it 3 times. Then I asked her if she knew what it meant. She thought for a minute and asked, "Do I need to get my oil changed?" I told my wife and she just shook her head...

There isn't a modern vehicle out there that would even start without the computer.
They are pickups with multiple computers.

I've still got a 1990 F-150 Lariat, I don't think it has a computer. 170,000 miles, make me an offer if you don't want to mess with computers.
It has one. Had a problem with my 90 where it died on the road. Just stopped. Power was not getting to the computer due to a fuseable link going bad. It would crank all day long, but not start.
