Flow-thru Consoles

Do the flow-thru consoles only come in the FX4's and up or can you get them in the XLT's?

Available only in FX4, Lariat, Raptor, Harley Davidson, King Ranch, and Platinum.

There is a center console available in the XLT, but it's not the flow through console.

That's what I thought! I want the flow-thru console but I don't really like the idea of the plastic wheelwell molding that comes on the FX4. I fear that it will be a salt catcher and end up rusting out the fenders. And I do not want the Lariet and up package.

Okay, dumb question from a newbie, but what exactly is a flow thru console? Is that in reference to the air ducts for the rear seats?

It actually refers more to the console with the floor shift instead of the column shift. Meaning the console is attached to the dash and flows from the dash to the rear.

Might be a stupid question but how would they rust out? My truck has seen winter roads since it was new and there are no problems with that.

My 2003 and 99 have OEM painted wheel well moldings and have no rust. I would not use that as an excuse to not get the FX4.

I'm just guessing that salt would find its way in between the molding and fender and you would not be able to flush it out. Therefore, the salt would end up eating through the metal fenders over time.
I'm just asking questions since I plan on buying something in the very near future and I want to know what I am going to buy before the time comes.
