Picked up my 2010 XLT SCab in November and have been keeping detailed mileage calcs since. (4.6L 3v V8, 6spd trans, 21 hwy mpg on sticker) Following a trip to the VA & WV mountains last weekend I was pleasantly surprised that the calculated mileage for one tank was 21.8 mpg, with the average for the past 10 tanks at 19.6, and the average for the life of the truck is 18.7. As of this morning, the truck computer shows the overall average since November to be 21.9 mpg (I have never reset it). I commute 75 miles/day, so most driving is highway. I drive @ 70-75 on the highway, but take it easy on the starts and stops. I traded a 2006 Ranger to get better leg/head room figuring I'd eat the $$ in mileage, but am getting within 1 mpg of the Ranger's mileage. A good decision, I'd say!!
No luck inserting the data spreadsheet or dash photo, but got 'em just the same.
Am interested in hearing about other's mileage results.

 

My FX4 is not too far behind you there... almost 20 highway and about 17 city... with my lead footed wife driving it!

 

ncsurveyor...I know what you mean!!! I went from getting 15mpg in a 02 Ranger Ex-Cab with the 4.0 6cyl to a 2010 F-150 Supercrew 5.4 and I'm getting 17mpg right now!!! I'm loving it!! My wife didn't believe me that we'd be spending around the same amount on gas every month when I went up to a full size truck...proved her wrong!!!

 

With the large gas tank I only gas up once a month.

 

I wish, even if I had the 36g in my 06, I know i would be at the pump at least 2-3 times

 

The three valve 4.6L seems to get a lot better mileage compared to the 5.4L especially considering the EPA MPG sticker only shows 1 MPG difference. I have a 4x4 model but still get well over 20 MPG hwy and 14.5 MPG when towing a two horse trailer. That's hand calculated (the trip computer reads about 1 MPG higher).

Some people assume the 3V 4.6L would be down on power but it makes loads of power and is glassy smooth (according to the dyno figures it makes as much power as the 5.4L). It has the same bore as the 5.4L and a shorter stroke which is why it is so smooth.

 

2010 F150 Lariat SCREW 4x4. 4,000 miles on it. My mileage has been slowly getting better during this break-in period.

The first observation is that the computer on the truck is ALWAYS reporting a higher number than I get when calculating by hand...at least 1/2 MPG sometimes closer to 1 MPG difference.

Around town lately (stop and go on the way to work) I can squeeze 15.5 MPG out (hand calc)...that's if I'm constantly thinking about mileage and basically driving by the MPG readout.

I just took the truck on a trip to Florida...I put maybe 2,000 miles on it this week. On state/county roads with no stop lights and speeds of 45 to 65 the computer will range as high as 22 MPG...pretty impressive.

On the interstate at 75 to 85 I'm down in the 14 MPG range per the computer...which undoubtedly means a hand calc in the low to mid 13MPG range.

Overall I was impressed with the mileage the truck got in the 45 to 65 MPH sweet spot.

 

This is what my computer was reading for the first 200 miles on a 500 mile trip and then when I hit the hills in southern Ohio and West Virginia it dropped to 23.5. When I filled up it caculated out to 21.5mpg. My computer is always 1.5-2 higher. In city driving its always in the low 17's and calculates out to 15-15.5. This is with a 4x4 Scab with a 4.6 2v.

 

That's pretty impressive for a 2v with the 4 speed tranny!

 

I have only had to fill up twice since I bought my truck and so far it’s not that great. I manually calculated my MPG and used the on board computer. I have a 2010 f150 lariat Screw with the 5.4 engine and 4x2 6 speed with 3.55LSD.

1st Tank: 14MPG/Manual Calc 15MPG/ OBC
2nd Tank: 14.4 MPG/Manual Calc 15.6MPG/OBC

I think my truck is still too new to get an accurate reading, for all I know I may still be burning off all the grease and lube from assembly. I am going to keep calculating my MPG for every tank to make sure though.

 

My 2006 STX Scab 4x4 which was pretty much the same truck as my 09 got the same mpg's on the highway and about 1 mpg less in the city. I think my Magnaflow cat back helped my city mpg's a little.

 

I have an 09 Screw 5.4 4X4 with 3.55 and a 6 spd. I have not done a manual calc but my mileage always shows right around 18.6 mpg readings from the OBC.
