2009 hitch wiring from 4 flat (factory) to 7 Pole

I have a 2009 F150 SCREW w/ factory 4 wire flat trailer connector. I need to got to a 7 Pole type. I cannot seem to find any of the "inline"adapters that say they will work with a 2009 model. The closest I have come to was on this site where a person gave directions on a 2004 F150, and a link to the adapter to purchase, but specifically said that it would not work with 2005-up models.

Has anyone been able to find an adapter that will convert it from the 4 to 7. I do not want to purchase one and have to return it. As well I want to make sure that power to charge battery on trailer does work properly and brakes function.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Have you checked with a Ford dealer yet? If it's a dealer item, you can order it from Tasca at a discount.

No the local dealer here is PO'd because I did not buy it from him so I would get raped on it if I bought it from him and the dealer I bought it from is 2 hrs away. I am fairly mechanically inclined so figured it would be a easy swap just getting frustrated by not finding anything online. I will check Tasca

crazy dealer

So I found this:
Ford part number 9L3Z-15A416-A
The original equipment wiring harness assembly is made to plug into the factory wiring harness at the rear of your vehicle. The 7-pin design allows the use of trailers with electric brakes. The 4-pin design does not allow the use of trailers with electric brakes. Includes an electrical bracket for convenient attachment. Available for vehicles with or without reverse camera system option. Dealer installation recommended.

I called my "local" dealer and was informed no one has one closer than Michigan, I'm in NY. Then was told that if my SCREW did not come with a 7 pole harness, that this particular part work not work as the "Core wiring" was not in the current wiring harness. Then I was told I would have to have a new wiring harness (front to rear) installed.

Yeah.........

If Ford has a different main harness for non-tow package trucks you will have to wire in an aftermarket. It will have a T connection for stop, turn etc but you will have to run brake, battery and ground yourself.

I am not sure but this came up in a search.

This is the universal way.

I don't know about the 09's, but the earlier trucks all had the same wiring harness whether it had the tow package or not - follow your 4 pin back, it should plug into a harness on the frame rail above the spare tire. There should be extra connectors back there for a 7 pin.

The harness should plug in with out a problem, Where you are going to run into the problem is the bracket to hold it on to the truck only comes on the hitch. I can send you the factory pictures if you like.. just email me at tascaparts@gmail.com
