Can anyone help? My tailgate was stolen. It had the camera in the blue oval. The guy tried to replace it with one that had the camera in the handle. I refused it and he is refusing to give me a refund. He claims it came both ways....we are headed to court. Does anyone know when Ford started putting the camera in the oval?????

You might be right. I'm not sure what year of tailgate he took the camera from. I just know I didn't want one he had butchered. I paid for right and that was what I wanted!

 

the oval camera started in 09,there is no handle cameras stock on the 09 & 10s... the handle was in the 08s & down, im not sure when they started the handle

 

with the new redesign/refresh in 2009, it has been in the emblem now.

it was in the tailgate handle 07 and 08. All outer handle designs from 04-08 are the same for 09/10, but the camera was definately moved to the emblem.

 

Would you mind giving the details how your tailgate got stolen? Was it locked?

 

Go to a local Ford Dealer; Go into the parts department, tell them you need the part number and cost of your tailgate with the camera, give them the VIN of your truck (The VIN will show what options your truck came with from the factory).
Request a copy of the part detail sheet (Should have a drawing and part layout) and cost.
You could use this for your court as well as to show to "the guy"

Try looking on craigslist.org, I saw on the Houston link, a white tailgate with the camera for 150.00, I called and it was sold. I bet it was stolen
