Platinum Offroading
Nice aritculation with that lift! Good to see a Platinum getting dirty! How do you get away with no front plate in CA? I thought 2 were required there... Maybe the local cops give you a break because you have an Army plate instead. Airborne!
And the tires....man I love them, great traction all the time (mud it's decent, but it isn't like a MT tire), the tread pattern looks great, and they are super quiet for a tire this big. I'll definitely be buying them again when the time comes (which by the way shouldn't be for awhile...I offroad them decently, and they have 12,500 miles on them. I'm expecting 40k-50k out of them.)
The no front plate is two-fold on how I get away with it: I have never been stopped or even commented on about it from an LEO, probably because of the US Army plate in the front, but it's also because the truck is not registered in California. I am technically still a Maryland resident, only in Los Angeles for military and school. Now if any Maryland residents are reading this, yes we also require a front plate, but I figure the LEO's out here in Cali won't know the laws in MD. Regardless, I carry my front plate in the center console, and a set of tools under the back seat. If they give me crap during a traffic stop, I'll change it right there. Takes all of 2 minutes...
Besides scratches, I have had to replace the front right HID bulb and ballast from losing them while offroading (ripped them clear out), I have a crack on the inner front left Bushwacker flare (from the tire hitting it during offroading it), and I also have the rear bumper plastic trim held on by black nylon rivets. My D-ring shackled flipped up underneath it during a bad hit and broke the mounts.
All in all, I've spent like $75 in repairs, but the detailing will be more.
But I use the truck like a TRUCK!!
Oops, missed this one. Yea, I don't like the idea of ruining the Platinum either, but ya gotta remember it's the same exact F-150 as all the others, except it has the interior of a Mercedes Benz. And trust me, you can't see it in the pics, but it needs to be professionally detailed. It has been pinstriped pretty bad on both sides of the truck, from front to rear. I have the front covered in 3M so that helps a bit, but the rest of the truck isn't covered (yet).

Haha ain't that the truth!
Taking you offroading is always fun because you're so super protective of the truck, but almost always end up doing it anyways. Plus your reactions from my passenger seat are always the best. It's either "slow the f*^! down" or "that was f*1%ing awesome!", with no in between.

That's what she just said when she read this.
Looks great! Think you could get a pic of the clearance between the upper part of the steering knuckle that connects to the control arm and the rim? I'm in desperate need of one as I'm trying to figure out if my 17" rims will work with this skyjacker lift as long as I use a 1.5" wheel spacer. Thanks!
