Questions about the Sync option

If you have the sync system can you upload music from a USB thumbdrive or laptop onto the radio?

You can play music from a USB thumb drive on the stereo if that's what you're asking? I think if you have the nav system you can rip CDs onto the built-in hard drive or some such shenanigans.

Correct. The Gracenote DB will only recognize factory audio CDs (or copies), so you might have to manually enter/modify the artist, album, and track data.

Can you play them from the thumb drive without the nav system?

They missed the mark on this and should allow you to download from the USB, chevy and Dodge do.

Your judgement assumes you understand what 'mark' the engineers were trying to hit. The 10GB HDD was intended to replace the 6-disc CD changer and is meant for people who still purchase factory CDs and do not want to go through the process of compressing them. If you already know how to store all your music in compressed format, then the USB flash drive or USB powered HDD is meant for you - especially if you connect it to USB2 and store it in the glove compartment or center console.

FWIW, my parents (both in their late 60s) absolutely LOVE the 10GB HDD in their 09 KR.

Funny story: When they first got the truck home, they asked me why there is a mouse port on the dash...
