Painting headlights and tail lights?

Almost all of us here want HD/Raptor heads and tails for our trucks, and people are dishing out good money for them. But what I haven't seen is anybody simply painting them. If you search this and other forums, you will see that tons of '04-'08 guys have painted their headlights and tail lights and gotten identical results, while spending only $10 or so for the paint. Why hasn't anybody tried this with the '09-'10? I haven't seen anybody do it yet, or I'm not looking hard enough. It's well documented and proven with the older truck owners.

Heat the heads or tails at 250* for 10 mins in the oven till the silicone adhesive holding the lens is soft, pry off the clear housing, tape off the reflective chrome, buff the rest and paint. Then strip the old adhesive off and apply new. And it looks just like the HD lights.

It'll require patience, and I know it can be scary fooling around with the lens, but if you think about it, that high impact plastic is pretty dang tough. Just think of all the abuse they can see without really showing it. It can take brunt force to do damage to those lenses, and so far I haven't seen anyone post that they've broken theirs just by using their bare hands.

Check out WisconsinFX4. I noticed his headlights and tail lights are blacked out. I'm not sure if he bought them or did them himself, though. Looks good. I am wanting to do the same to my truck, as soon as I find some free time.
