Not at all. I'd love it, since I'm not rich. 7 years for the '97 model was awesome, in fact it was almost an 8 year run since the '97 came out very early in '96. Then the '04 lasted 5 years, although you could consider it longer in a way, since I too have never agreed with the '09 being all-new, but rather a major freshening.

But I hear lots of talk about '12 being all-new, although to be honest I've not seen anything official other than the talk a few years back from FoMoCo about wanting to re-do their vehicles every 3 years. Who knows, they certainly haven't done anything to the Ranger (not that anyone cares, including me). The Fusion was 4 years. And I think the Edge was 4 years too. How long was the Taurus/Five Hundred? The only one I know of that was done in just 3 years was the SuperDuty, of all vehicles.

Unless someone throws me a winning lottery ticket, I'll take a good long time between model re-do's, thank you very much. At least 5 years so I can pay the thing off first!

Guess we'll see this fall/winter. Either we see some Brenda Priddy & Company plastered 2012 spy pics, or we see nothing but the '11 w/EcoBoost. Maybe with GM and dodge re-doing their trucks for 2013 and 2014, Ford wants to hit theirs last in MY2015 instead of MY2012? Fine with me. I still may pick up an '11 w/EB just for kicks, if it actually makes a real difference in MPG. If not, I'm content with waiting.

but i would definately classify it as a completely new truck not just a slight redesign like the bumper changes and number of doors like previous models etc
ummm but its NOT a completly new truck. Yes its more than a minor re fresh like the 92 & the 99, but its NOT completely new.

Just like 09-10 Fusion. Interior all different, same for seats, doors, frille, tail etc... But still a major refresh, not a all new car.

Pretty much most of it. Off top of my head, grille, hood, tail, truck lid, not sure on every part of the door?

According to ford there were 2200 changes implemented in the 2009 F150. While I agree the 04-08 trucks are similar in appearance to the 2009-2010 I can't see how anyone would call it a face lift. New frame, new interior, new transmission, etc. So Ford keeping a similar but refined look in their newer models to the ones that were top selling trucks? Yeah, certainly it must just be a face lift and not smart marketing. Ignorance is bliss and you guys must be happy as clams..

If you would read the posts you'd then know we didn't call it a facelift, we called it a major refreshening. Which is what it was. This isn't complicated.

Sure am. Loved my 1997, loved my 1998, loved my 2004 the first couple years, and love my 2009. But just because I spent 40k on a brand-new vehicle doesn't mean that I blindly accept it's the greatest thing ever with absolutely no flaws and just MUST be all-new because why? Because Ford syas so? Because I bought one? Uh-uh, no way. The day I drove it home and showed it off I even told everyone it was a major refresh of the '04 and refused to call it all-new. Seems the biggest defenders of that myth are the ones who bought one and just need to believe it for some reason. Maybe because it's a lot of money and most people don't buy every time they remodel like I do, or like people with money are always doing? To feel for a short time that they have the best thing out there? Who knows. Well, I bought one, love it, but certainly don't buy into the media hype FMC wants people to buy into. It is what it is, a great majorly refreshed truck that I enjoy almost every day and will trade in as soon as a newer model comes out (or they do something drastic about MPG savings).

Maybe if you guys would define what constitutes a new truck, refreshing, facelift, etc. etc. we could figure out what exactly you mean.

I put 35,000 miles on the company 2008 XL before I picked up my 2010 XL, I consider the 2010 a new truck.

yeah i call it a new truck, new frame and transmission is big enough for me to consider it a new design, then a whole different front end and bed too.

Different indented fenders and rear lip to follow the lines of the new tailgate, I'd call that pretty new.

I consider it all new... The only thing the same as far as I can recall is the engine displacement. 4.6 and 5.4... But they aren't completely the same as 04-08's either. Frame, body, interior, bed, suspension, tailgate, grille, lights, transmission... What else is there? A "major refresh" would be updating a few of these things, like the bumpers in 98 becoming more rounded. Updating ALL of these things in one model is a completely new truck.
