Like a lighthouse on a foggy night! :o

The guy who owned the other truck was very appreciative that I paged him. He felt worse for me than his truck.

I would probably get it replaced but i would get a used set from the classifieds on this forum. A lot of guys are pulling them off their FX4's as soon as they bring them home and they are running around $300 for the pair....

I have some factory 5" chrome oval running boards I took off my 2009 at 5,000 miles. They did go through one Iowa winter so the bottom side could use some polishing. I am willing to get rid of them cheap.

I had my truck for about two weeks and my wife backed into it with one of our other cars! She only dented the front lincense plate thank goodness (what is cheaper... fixing truck or divorce???)

Parking lots are nasty places... thats why I park way out and walk in.

I know, but I just went in for a quick cup of coffee. It was 5:45 a.m. No telling what else is going on at that time.

The trick with applying the touch up in the nail polish bottles (As told to me from body shop I know very well) is to take a match (not the striking end) at the cardboard end and use that to apply. Seems like the brush makes more of a mess than help. I've been using this method for years and seems to work very well!

Good point Nutty. The brush does make a mess.

Good luck man, my truck's in the body shop right now... got hit in the parking lot while I was on vacation... no note, no nothing, just a nice white scrape/dent behind the rear driver's side wheel well. Got a police report and since it's documented that way, the insurance is covering it without increasing my rates (supposedly). $1600 is the body shop estimate. Was in South Padre Island at the time... it's like a third world country down there in South Texas, every white SUV in the parking lot had a matching dent on the front right bumper, and there were 5 of them. The police officer couldn't determine which of the 5 hit me, could have been any of them... and two were from Mexico.

First week I had mine somebody doored my front passenger door. tiny dent that nobody notices until I point it out to them, but it is the only thing I see when I walk up to the passenger side. I'm in the process of moving to Italy and the truck is going in to storage for a while so I'm not going to bother fixing it until I get back

No kidding johnny. I don't take my vehicles down there. Anyway, the damage to yours sounds very similar, as does the cost of repair. I checked with my agent and they said it will be covered under collision since I don't know who hit it and have no proof. I asked the place I got coffee for a copy of the surveillance tape, but they didn't have it. So I'm paying out of pocket. The are picky in a Texas right now. I'm hearing claims, other than theft and weather, are increasing rates 20%.

I asked why it isn't covered under the comprehensive, because it got hit when I wasn't in it. They said that doesn't matter and I needed a police report. You can't get the Irving, TX PD to come out for a police report on an actual accident with less that $5k in apparent damage. I don't think they would want to come out for my ordeal.

Sorry to hear that racer. Funny thing is that the surveillance tape at the resort where I was staying also "skipped" over my parking spot and the area around it... GRRR. Luckily, the South Padre Island PD was really responsive on the police report. Good luck!

On the plus side. I did finally make it to the body shop where the guy applied the touchup paint for me and buffed it out. Can hardly see the scuff anymore. I'm going to have to learn how to do this. For only $25 though, well worth letting a practiced expert do it.

FYI,

The chrome step bars are for sale in the classifieds section. One is brand new (driver's), the other has a small 2-3" scuff on the very back edge.

I had an old timer (80+) in a Prius pull up next to my truck while I was sitting in it in the bank parking lot. The parking lot was basically bare and he chose to park next to me (passenger side), so I knew this was not going anywhere good. I watched him as he swung his door open full speed and heard/felt it hit my truck. I got out of the truck, walked around, and asked him what the f*ck he was doing, and he proceeded to deny hitting my truck. After looking at my truck, and his car, it was apparent that his door luckily contacted my black running board. Tiny little scratch on my board but a really nice sized dent right on the edge of his door. I told him he could deny it as much as he wanted, and pointed out the dent in his car to him. Once he saw the damage to his car he flipped out about how it was brand new and it was my fault and blah blah blah. I started laughing, hopped in, and rode off. Friggin old people need to get off the road.
