I wish they had a button for this...

My new Lariat has 6 windows you can open. The 4 normal windows plus a moonroof and a sliding rear window. When the weather is nice it's not uncommon to have some combination or all of these open. It would be very convenient to have a "master close button" that would let you hold one button to close everything at once.

I know I'll eventually forget to close one and get rain in the cab.

Normally, if I have the moonroof open, the only other window I open is the back sliding glass. It provides just enough to keep a good flow of air coming in without being too noisy. I can't say as though I've ever had the 4 door windows down at the same time, just the front 2.

All you need is a 12 VDC PLC and a sensor on each window to indicate position. I'll write the ladder logic for free, make it do anything you want. windows up, windows down, specific windows up or down, lights on or off...

Intriguing. I might hit you up on this. What type of sensor would I use and where would I buy them?

I did a quick search since I've never heard of a "12 vdc plc" and it looks like this is a 12 volt programable logic circuit?

I have a bunch more homework to do to figure out how these work and how I might rig it up, but I'd LOVE to have one button to control all of the windows.

I don't have a new truck, so I'm going to ask the question.

Will the remote allow you to roll down any of the windows by pressing and holding a button or anything like that?

My wife's Acura TL has a function from the factory like that - press and hold the unlock button and it rolls down all the windows and opens the sunroof. But it doesn't have a function to roll everything up. Someone built a module that allows you to press the lock button twice and it rolls everything up and closes the sunroof. He sold a ton of those modules on Acura forums...

And FWIW, I believe some of the nicer alarms have this function built into them.

O boy, now we want the windows to be closed by the truck. Are we getting lazy or what. Sounds like someone should of purchased a truck with a few less windows to open.

Maybe those who couldn't afford 6 windows shouldn't take pot shots like a little bish.

Pretty close CD1, "programable logic controller". Originally invented to replace complex relay circuitry in industrial processing. Your "love" will need to be very strong for this button because it won't be easy or cheap. Actually it could be done with 7 regular automotive relays, 6 limit switches and some creative wiring. The cost wouldn't be much but the labor will suck. I'll see if I can make a diagram in paint to illustrate the concept.

I forgot to mention, we use Allen Bradley PLC's and the full software package alone (no hardware) runs around $3000 (!!). Check out www.entertron.com\smart-pak.htm The hardware is not exorbitantly expensive and the software is free.

I'm really surprised they havent added this as an option yet, especially with all the other tech in the new F150's. Hell, even the H2 SUT had this option back in 05 if I recall.
