Help Installing 5100s

Does anyone have a step by step on installing 5100s on the front? I haven't received my factory service manual yet and want to install my leveling shocks now. My biggest question is whether the springs have to be compressed?

I've installed 5100's on a Tacoma and I imagine the process is similar. You will have to compress the springs so either get yourself a real sturdy spring compressor or take them to a shop that will put the shocks into the springs for you. I used a cheapo compressor from Harbor Freight and it was pretty worthless. Got one spring on and the bolts were so twisted I didn't want to risk my life doing the other.

Since your asking this question, get your local repair shop to do this swap. It's just a safer route to go.

You can have them do the whole job or you can remove the spring/strut assembly and have them just do the springs. Since your lifting, you'll likely need an alignment anyway.
