Do you know if the Valvoline meets the requirements listed in the owner's manual?

Use SAE 5W-20 engine oil
Only use oils “Certified For Gasoline Engines” by the American Petroleum Institute (API). An oil with this trademark symbol conforms to the current engine and emission system protection standards and fuel economy requirements of the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC), comprised of U.S. and Japanese automobile manufacturers.
To protect your engine and engine’s warranty, use Motorcraft SAE 5W-20
or an equivalent SAE 5W-20 oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C930-A. SAE 5W-20 oil provides optimum fuel economy and durability performance meeting all requirements for your vehicle’s engine. Refer to Maintenance product specifications and capacities later in this chapter for more information.
Do not use supplemental engine oil additives, cleaners or other engine treatments. They are unnecessary and could lead to engine damage that is not covered by Ford warranty.
Change your engine oil and filter according to the appropriate schedule listed in the scheduled maintenance information.
Ford production and Motorcraft replacement oil filters are designed for added engine protection and long life. If a replacement oil filter is used that does not meet Ford material and design specifications, start-up engine noises or knock may be experienced.
If it does, I'd say you're in great shape!

Happy motoring!

Hello!

It does: http://www.valvoline.com/pdf/All-Climate.pdf

However, all oils are not created equal.

Note that, Mobil1 5w-20 Full synth also meets this spec, but according to Labnerd, is not an attractive oil at all, in it's recent formulations (non-EP)

Again - MC semi-synth 5w-20 - top tier oil at an unbeatable price.

It's all about the additive package.

I'm with ya'! Great oil, easy to get (although my closest WallyWorld is usually low), and really inexpensive!

I asked because when I first bought my truck in June 09 and I searched for oils that met the Ford spec, only MC 5W20 syn, 5W20 semi-syn, and Castrol GTX 10W40 came up.

Not sure why it didn't show up in June. Maybe Valvoline has updated their spec list?

Hi!

Interesting - as this stuff has been around a while too:

Are you sure about the GTX? I haven't looked but that doesn't sound right...

Just did a real quick Google on the spec and it appears, that Mobil Clean 5000, Mobile 1, Mobile Super 1000, Castrol 5W20, etc. now also meet the spec...

I swear only MC 5W20 and Castrol 10W40 came up in June 09...It sticks in my mind because I thought it was really strange.

And I really wasn't drinking (all that much). Well, no more than usual. I think. Maybe. No, I'm sure of it. Possibly even less.

(maybe)

I have been using Mobil 1 oil in all of my vehicles since 1999. Everything from 400 hp turbo hondas to cammed LSX motors (my favorite). Its more expenisve than other oils but I have had great results with it so im sticking with what works for me. I am using the Mobil 1 5w-20 with a Ford Motorcraft oil filter every 5k miles.
