2010 Garage Door Remote on Visor Swap
2010 Garage Door Remote on Visor Swap
3 weeks ago I purchased a 2010 Screw Lariat but didn't get the Lariat Plus package with the garage door remote on the visor. Last night my in-laws bought a 2010 Screw Lariat with the Lariat Plus package. They do not have a garage so asked if I wanted to swap visors and therefore obtain the garage door remote. We have the same color interiors.
Is it possible to swap out their visor for mine, and if so, how do I do it? Is it a simple plug-n-play or is it more complicated?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have not done my new truck but did swap out visors on a previous F150 and it was just a simple plug and unplug then program the remote. I feel sure the new trucks are the same and a quick removal of your visor should confirm that.

When I bought my 2009 F-150, it did not have the Home Link Visor nor the back up camera. I didn't want the rear bumper sensors. So, I ordered the home link visor and installed it myself. The hardest part was making sure I had the correct color visor. Unscrew the 2 screws, unplug the wire for the lighted make-up mirror, and reverse the process to install. If it takes you 2 minutes to do, it was about a minute too long. Very simple installation and very simple programming of the Home Link unit. Hope this helps.

I'll post results after I do it this weekend.

I love having multiple holders for sunglasses as I think everyone should have a couple of pairs(maybe because I sell them??). Copper polarized lens(Kaenon) and a gray polarized lens(Maui Jim) fill mine currently.

The Lariat Plus Package is MSRP for $800, so call it $650 after your negotiated price and incentives. And for that you get three excellent features, the 3-button garage door opener, rear view camera and reverse sensing system. So why pay several hundred dollars aftermarket to add just one of these features you could have gotten factory installed, with the warranty, for just a few bucks more? Chump change on a $40k truck. Reminds me of the guy in another thread who was going to spend several thousand dollars to add dual zone climate control to his XLT. Why not just buy a Lariat to start with, it is standard?
And I like two glasses holder, one for my sunglasses during the day and one for regular glasses that I need at night.

I bought an older model review mirror with the homelink on it (and compass and temp). I think I paid $60 or so for the whole thing. Except for running the wiring, I think the install took about 20 minutes.

B) Some people don't like the floor shifter/flow-through-console, but also don't want the 20-split either. I have captain chairs with floor console.
C) Some people can't (aren't willing) to pay what the Lariat trim package adds to the cost, usually with additional items you may/may not want. Some people may have to add things over time, which often times would result in costing more than getting it from the factory.
D) .....and as they say of beauty, value is also "in the eye of the beholder".

In addition to stock fx4 color confirmation...anyone know if this color and visor shape is found in other ford, lincoln, mercury vehicles. Sometimes I find relatively new visors on ebay that look to be the right color...just not sure. I hear that the visor swap is just plug and play though.
I'm looking too!
I would like to buy a new visor too! I was told by my Ford parts guy, that the color of the visors in the FX4 is not available with Homelink. Can any one confirm the visor colors? Mine is a very light tan-off white cloth visors. I have the FX4 luxury package with the black leather seats. What about the color of visors for the Platinum or Lariats?
