I did the swap yesterday and everything worked fine. The plug is in there about 6 inches, but you have to pull down on the headliner in order to create enough of a gap to get the plug out. Thanks for the info!

On the Lariats with the black interior, our visors were a tan color. The visors don't actually match the headliner very well, but I never noticed until I did the swap.

Hey all. New to the forum, and to a 2009 F-150 screw. I bought the truck used, and I absolutely love it.

I too am interested in adding the homelink system to my truck. I'd really like to put it in the visor if at all possible. What I'm wondering is if the wiring will be present even though my current visors don't have lights. Has anyone had any experience with this? I know sometimes they run all the wiring for every option when it goes through the line and didn't know if this was one of those times.

Thanks for the help!

5111: When you say the Plug is in there about 6 inches. Which Direction from the Visor mounting area? Or Which direction does the power wire appear to be coming from? I also don't have lighted mirror so have to start from scratch putting the HomeLink into my visor.

Thanks for the help!

Has anyone taken apart their visor yet? I know on the Escape forums some with 2010's have taken it off, split the two halves, and there is a provision for Homelink. You just find the module on ebay used and tap into the visor light and you've got it. I know our manuals say you can have either Car2U (Newer) or JCI's homelink. I work for JCI but not that group. I've been trying to find out if I can get a discount like Optima batteries but no luck. The Homelink stuff is pricey!

Does anyone know if the homelink module can be programmed to work with any type of opening device. I have a mighty mule automatic gate opener, and I'm wandering if it is possible to program it to that.

I think the only thing you really need to consider is if it is rolling code, then you need to make sure the homeline module is also rolling code.

As an update, I have a rolling code Craftsman (Liftmaster) and went on ebay and picked up a stone (tan) homelink and installed it. Works perfect. Make sure if you have an FX4 the tan color officially called stone is what you need. I actually got another friend a homelink module that was tan and it matches the stone color identically from mine. I got one from a Flex with stone interior fwiw.
