Tpms

Just had some new tires put on my 2009 and I did not have the TPMS transfered from old tires to new tires. Not that I am complaining but I am not getting the warning lights on the dash for low tire pressure being that I do not have any sensors now that can be monitored. Anyone have a clue as to why? Not a big deal but was just curious why I didnt get the warning light and message center warning low tire pressure and I know that it was working as I have gotten a warning before when noe of my tires was low............THANKS

It takes a while, especially when you drive short trips (under 20 miles) If your old tires are stored near the truck, then it will pick up the at rest signal and think all is okay. It takes about a 20 mile trip with all speeds over 25mph, to get the fault light when it does not have a signal. You will get it though.

Are the sensors actually on the rims, or in the tires. Will Discount Tire know what they are doing to transfer them?

Why did you NOT have them transferred?

I bought new rims and tires. Have 24in Elure Rims and 305/35/24 DCenti D9000 tires. Was going to have the TPMS transfered but tire place I went to said is was a possibility that the sensor wouldnt fit anyway do to where my valve stems are located on the new tires and they came mounted and balanced and ready to put on and I really didnt want to have to have them busted off the rims just to put the sensors on plus according to the tire shop it would have cost a pretty penny to do that so it wasnt that big of deal to me not to have them transfered over.

the new era of ford trucks have the TPMS incorporated in the vave stems, give it time, not only will you need electric tape for the (!) symbol but you will need it on the display cause it'll show every time you start the truck, and you can go ahead and disconnect the alert speaker in your cab cause it will alert you every time upon start up...enjoy! thanks ford!!

FYI, you can get the sensors at Tasca parts for $36/tire. $140 for your sanity might be worth it.

Not quite. They are attached to the valve stem with a screw. You do need the special valve stem to attach to, but the sensor is not physically in the valve stem. You can move the sensor from one wheel to another just by getting the valve stems themselves.
