power memory seat issue

i have an '09 f150 fx4 & it came with power captain memory seats.. this feature is designed to remember your seating postion, once you take the key out of the ignition it is suppose to move all the way back to allow easier exit from the vehicle. once the key is put in the ignition it is suppose to move to the position you saved. now my problem is about 90% of the time these days once i take the key out of the ignition or put the key in for that matter, the memory system seems to be shut off & once i get in i have to put to the desired setting, now i wouldnt mind this if it didn't move back again on me once i get out of the vehicle. so basically every time i get in i have to make the settings comfortable for me all over again which takes a couple minutes.. ive played with all the settings in dash cluster & i played with all the settings on the gps screen to see if something was shut off, but nothing is & should be running fine, if anyone has this problem or knows anything about this problem please help me out.. i scheduled with my local dealer to have this looked at & a couple other little things but im open for suggestions so please if you know anything let me know, maybe i could save a few bucks!!

Once you have adjusted the seats to your desired setting, did you save the settings using the 1 or 2 button on your seat and the lock button on your key fob?

Every so often my seat and steering wheel won't move to the pre-set position when the key is placed in the ignition. When it does this, I just take the key out and then put it back in and it will do it's thing like it's supposed to.

My concern right now is the grinding noise in the seat when it moves back when the key is removed... gonna have to take it in and have that checked out.

ugh, i shut that feature off within the first week cause by the time the seat moved back i was already out the truck and on my way!!! not to mention it only worked half the time and when it did it went to my fiance's setting!!! save yourself the hassle and just get out of the truck without the seat moving to 20 different directions! just my $.02, disregard if not interested in my comments...

I've noticed that mine must have sensors that shut off the adjustment motors if you push resistance against them. If I try to reposition myself while it is adjusting (like to reposition my coat), the seat movements stop. It's like there is a motor overload protection device in the motors. Then I either reinsert the key, or hit the seat buttons.

i hear ya man, i think my truck has every option the lariat has to offer....but sometimes it does more harm than good IMO....don't even get me started on the genius idea of TPMS sensors.....that's the real headache ford dropped on the consumer!!! at least ford gives you the option of shutting off the seats if they aren't working right....

Take it to the dealer and have them check it. if you have the option then it should work as advertised. You paid for the option might as well use it. I have not had any issues but if I did I would have them check it out. Good luck hope it works out.

Turned mine off. Same sporadic operation as mentioned in earlier posts.
