Just bought 2010 f-150 tonight, HELP!

Well I bought a 2010 F-150 Lariat SCrew.Looking at Ford's website I think its just a base Lariat. I had no intention of buying, and got pressured into the deal. Now I cant sleep.

MSRP was listed at 39K, dealer gave me $32,999 after rebates and before tt&l. Did I get ripped off? Did I do ok? It's driving me crazy and I can't sleep.

It was a joint purchase but they let me off the lot with it without my wife being there to sign anything. If I got ripped off, could she just not sign to void the deal?

Total ended up being
32,999 (MSRP - Rebates)
+1K from trade upside down
+2.8K for 75k maintenance service (should I have even gotten this?)
+TT&L

A few questions first:
What is the exact MSRP?
Did they show you the total amount of rebate you qualify for? (which, using simple math, would tell you the actual transactional price of the truck)
As far as the extended warranty you bought, sounds like you paid retail for that...

If we knew the exact MSRP and what they're actually selling the truck to you for before rebates, we can tell you if you got hosed or not.

I would say that if this thing goes south on you once wifey finds out what you did, simply bring the truck back, hand them the keys, request the keys to your trade, and then kindly destroy all paperwork. But they will fight tooth and nail to keep you in that truck. You didn't exchange any kind of money did you? Downpayment, deposit, etc etc????

Let us know b/c there are plenty of guys on here who have either bought enough trucks to know a good deal when they see one and current Ford employees to definitely tell you if you got a good deal...

My way to judge a good deal is whether or not the purchaser is happy with the vehicle and the price they paid. It sounds like you might be happy with the vehicle, but are not really happy with the price. For reference, my truck stickered at 41,500 and I got it for 34,600 out the door. You could probably do better.

I had a buddy do the same thing that you are suggesting with your wife not signing. They will raise hell about it but there is not much they can do. In Texas you have a 72 hour right of refusal. I don't know about where you live, but you can check into that. If all the paperwork (i.e. - your wife's signature) is not done then the deal is not complete. I wouldn't suggest trying to turn around and buy a different truck from the same dealer though.

As for the maintenance service, what does it cover? At 75K miles, you shouldn't need to be doing anything but oil changes. Some quick math tells me that is $186 per oil change. Not sure about your area, but that would be about $140 too much per oil change.

Taking all of that into consideration, I would take it back. If you are truly happy with the truck itself, you might be able to force their hand by going in and saying that your wife did some research and surmised that you paid too much. They might be willing to rework your deal. If they do this, I would take the maintenance service off the table.

IMO that doesn't seem to bad, i mean just the basic lariat screw cab that seems like a pretty good price after title and license plus the k for the trade in... don't worry about it and go to sleep, also you need to post up some pics...

If I am not mistaken, right now they are offering up to $4500 cash back. That is dependent on customer loyalty cash etc. If you indeed got the entire $4500 and sticker was 39,500 then they only discounted the truck $2000. You can do better than that. This is also "Truck Month". They hype this month and they don't want to have egg on their face by not selling a lot of trucks.

Most extended warranties are a complete waste of money. $2,800? Ouch!! They tried to sell me one for half of that and I told them to stuff it.

75000 miles equals 12.5 oil changes at 6000 mile intervals. If you spent $2.8k on this oil change package that is $224 per oil change. I hope your wife is an attorney!

Actually, I just bought a 2010 Fx4 the other night. Rebates are up to 5000 this month if you finance through FMC. I dont think there is any such thing a customer loyalty anymore. Also included was a free bedliner. I also mentioned to them that I can get an xplan pin and they just gave me the xplan price without me getting my pin. So...because of my xplan and it being Ford truck Month...and I graduated college almost 2 years ago = $500 more. I took off about 11000 from MSRP.

I also had a similar dilemma. I went in set on a white xlt w/sony 4x4 ext cab, and came out with a FX4, lux pkg, sony, moonroof, 6.5 bed screw!!!!!!! Still feel as though I did not get the truck I wanted, but did get a lot more truck than what I wanted!!!!! I do love this truck but it will take me getting used to a Screw after 5 other ext cabs from 1998 to 08!!!!!! I did get a good deal though because it was on the lot. MSRP 43550, my price, 39500 - 5k incentives, -25k (book values were between 19750-21550) for my 08 xlt w 10kmiles, so it comes down to: my truck and 10800 OTD w TTags. If you RESALLY like truck, it does not matter. just enjoy it and stop doing the comparison everytime someone posts a "what did you pay" as I did. You will go nuts!!!!!!!! the guys on here are an awesome bunch and by reading their posts, asking questions, i am becoming more comfortable with this bigger truck. I even asked if there were anymore single, non family guys driving Screws, yup, many. hope this helps a little.

The only problem I see is the $2800 for a maintenance plan. That's a hell of a lot of money for oil changes and tire rotations.

Otherwise, I think you did okay. Not great, but not bad either.

A reference point:
I just purchased a 2010 F150 Lariat SCrew. It stickered at $38,925 plus about $700 in dealer add-ons. I purchased the truck on A/Z-plan for $32,7XX after $3500 in rebates and TT&L.

I don't think that you did too bad on the price of the truck, but I think that the maintenance plan (or maybe extended warranty) is high.
