Apparently, the new 3 spring setup has the same capabilties as the old 4 spring. The claim is that the factory switched the package mid production year.

Each spring is supposedly thicker. Must need a caliper to see the difference!

Had to believe the dealer, and took delivery!

Just as a data point my 2010 Lariat SCREW 4X4 that I ordered in Dec and took delivery of the end of Feb has 20" wheels, max tow pkg & 7700 gvwr and 4 rear leaf springs each side.

I have a 2010 FX4 with the 20's and the 7200 gvw. I just looked and there are 2 long ones and then a shorter one. But i crawled under the truck and there is also another short piece of spring under the shorter one that is only about 8 inches long. Not sure if that is just part of the assembly or if its actually useful.

If that was me I'd do more homework.

I would too.....but Ford did do this kind of thing in the 04-08 trucks too

04-05 got 4 leafs total regardless of tires size

06-08 got 3 leaves total regardless of tire size

Which the 06-08 leaves are to be thicker to make up for having one less, As payload numbers did not change.

I agree but then it was obvious that the later "3" were thicker" with a quick glance.

I called the Ford Canada customer service 1-800 #....they said the truck specs out for 4 springs...

I have been through 4 dealer lots in Southern Alberta.....
I could not find one with my specs AND the 3 spring setup!
So I make a big stink at the dealer, must have looked like an idiot!!!

However, the day after I raise a fuss, MY dealer has another Screw on the lot with the same specs and the 3 springs!

Either the change is real from the factory, or the dealer is covering his tracks...

As time rolls on, hopefully members who have taken recent delivery on a simaler truck can chime in on how the rear suspension is set up.

I have barked up every tree I can think of....

Thanks for all your input...
