He shouldn't have to, and neither should Ford. It is still well within the specs of a normal delivery process. Even another dealer on here said this happens more than what you'd think. They all eventually show up.

Many years ago, I ordered a new Ford pickup in late-October. According to the dealer's printouts from the factory, it was built in early December and shipped to the dealership but just never arrived. According to them, was "lost" by the railroad. By early February, and tired of waiting, I bought a Bronco off the lot on a Friday. On the following Monday the truck I ordered "mysteriously" showed up on the sales floor, but no one ever called me and offered me the opportunity to still receive the truck I ordered before the paperwork was filed. So I think that there are situations where the dealers aren't always totally honest with customers in situations like this. Like maybe times when they figure out that they can sell your truck to someone else for more than the price you signed for.

Not exactly what I was hoping to hear at this point, but good food for thought.

From what I'm being told, the new shipping company hasn't quite ironed out efficient ways of shipping yet (sending 1-2 trucks at a time). Who knows, maybe I'll get a call that it's in today

I hope so. As my situation turned out, the Bronco ended up being a more practical vehicle in the long run.

And just to clarify, I'm not claiming to be 100% on this, but aren't all F150's built at the KC truck plant?

This coming from a former Ford employee and someone who is personally waiting on their 2010 to show up as well...

..
Firstly, the definition of "lost" is the same as "misplaced"...according to Webster's, bad analogy. Secondly, over half of the F150's are built at DTP in the Rouge facility, just look at the windshield of any new F150, all of the "good ones" have the sticker that says, "Built Ford Tough - With Rouge Pride". As a former Ford employee, I'm very surprised you didn't know that, given the long, rich history of the Rouge Plant in Dearborn.

Anyway, as others have pointed out, 10 days late is hardly cause for panic, but, the dealer shouldn't be making "promises" on delivery dates, given track record of truck and rail transport, especially of late. 2-4 weeks behind schedule is almost normal these days, but, sometimes they can surprise you and actually show up on time or even early LOL

Dude, guys...
I think ppl are misconstruing what I had typed... MarkY put those words in my mouth, not me ("it's not really lost, it's just been misplaced"). I never said that. What my analogy alluded towards was luggage at the airport and how your LUGGAGE can get misplaced, overlooked, etc etc... Not an actual truck at a plant/rail head/transport company! Personally, I think it's a pretty darn close analogy. The reason why it works is b/c it will eventually show up (both the luggage and the truck!).

Secondly, I stated that I wasn't even 100% on whether or not F150's came from Dearborn... Why beat me up on that?! It's been 5 yrs since I left the biz, sorry that I can't remember where half of the F150's come from! And if it even makes a difference, I was not a factory employee.

Everything else you stated was rock solid... Especially dealers making promises on deliveries. We used to tell ppl 8-12 weeks. If it came in in 5 weeks, they loved us and thought we were heroes; if it took 10 weeks, well, it came in when you said and everybody was happy.

First off, I didn't put anything in your mouth.
Second, you most certainly did say that. See your post #8. "it's not really lost, it's just been misplaced "
Third, it's all in fun. We've all posted or said something goofy.

However, trying to throw ME under the bus for your goofy post is chickencaca. Grow some nads and man up.

Wooooh Marky, I think we need to chill bud.
Throwing you under the bus on a forum about F150's??? Grow some nads??? Man up??? You serious?!
Check your post #13....
People can read for themselves how you copied and pasted 8 words of mine completely out of context.
Again, those first 3 sentences in post #8 I was talking about luggage, NOT A TRUCK! That's why I wanted to clear things up in my last post, not trying to throw anybody under a bus.
I could say more but ppl at this point are probably bored of us talking about he said/he said...
Like you say, all in fun...

Well for dealers with some sort of business ethics its not their fault.

Well I heard from the dealer yesterday and they said that the transport company has decided to ship some of the trucks by rail from the Detroit area to a central location just north of Toronto and then from there ship by transport to Ontario dealers. They said this is the reason for the delay and about 1000 trucks are affected throughout the province.

Anyway, they said they would honour both the new $1000 accessory credit as well as the free Sync promo (this equates to a $500 credit since the luxury package already includes sync). I'm going in tonight to re-sign a new deal so that in the event that I don't get the truck by the end of the week, I won't lose the promotions that end at the end of the month.

So overall, up to this point I'm coming out $1000 ahead due to the delay so I'm happy with that, and the dealer's been as helpful as they can be. It just sucks that even still no one knows where it is or when I can expect delivery. Hopefully I'll find out more tonight.

Keep in mind, Red says it can normally take 8 to 12 weeks and it hasn't been 8 weeks yet.
