keypad options for 2010 XLT

Just got a 2010 XLT without keypad to unlock door. Purchased what I thought was the keypad during the deal. Service stuck on the aftermarket unit - NOT what I thought i was going to get. I want the one that comes with the truck from the factory in the handle bucket. Has anyone installed this in a 09/10 XLT? Is the harness in the door already? Dealer tells me it can't be done without changing the computer and adding a harness...??

Trying to see how far to push the dealer.

thanks

Yeah, that keypad is just a stick on one. Kinda like what's on the Super Duty, but the buttons are a little different. That new keypad has to be wired in, so I'd think that getting the one in the door handle would work in theory. But I do know that the code for the keypad is in the computer programming from the factory, so it could be more hassle than it's worth. That aftermarket one you got is probably wired just like a keyless remote and doesn't even touch the onboard computer.

I think I read on this site that you cannot add one easily like you can for the 04-08 F-150s.

Any luck with this yet I want to do the same thing. My truck had a key code in the glove box to activate my key pad ( if I had one )

Do an advanced search in that forum. I too read were it is not possible with the 2009-10. I had the stick on for almost 4 yeas, it is coded the same as your key fob. The factory heypad in the handle must go through the computer. I added it to my 05.

I put the Mark LT handles I had on my 2007 on my 2010 when I got it. The harness was in the door and everything plugged up fine and the keypad lights up, but the keypad doesn't function at all. I haven't contacted the dealership to find out if the feature has to be "awakened" or if it is even possible. If you get any other information post it up, I am really interested in whether I can get mine working or if I will have to order a handle for a 2010.
