Man I remember your pain. My 06 was always full of crap and could't ever get to the things I used the most. The 09 console lid is much better too for storage underneath. I have put my Ipod cord, pens, and other stuff in those little pockets on the bottom of the lid. Don't know if it would transfer to a previous model year truck though.

 

The biggest thing I miss from my 04 is the console was about 30% bigger and the lid had a place for the smaller boxes of tissue. I don't have an Ipod so don't need the pocket for that.

 

Bigslick, did you ever figure this out? I too suffer from huge storage room with no organization syndrome and I am an organization freak so I would love to figure out some solution.
