Exhaust bug bit me!

I was driving to work one morning and was passed by a Platnum with dual exhaust. I got behind it at a light and it sounded sweet on take off and acceleration. I swore I wasnt gonna mod the exhaust on my 09, but when I saw and heard the duals on the Platnum I was bitten. I received a Borla Pro xs for Xmas. Had the muffler and pipes installed Mon and it sounds great. Ill post pics and a sound clip when I get a chance.

I'm having trouble believing that a stock Platinum or any F150 would sound that special with duals. There has to be some tuning going on... what are your thoughts? I've considered duals on my Platinum, as well as numerous other mods, but all of my instincts bring me back to sticking stock.

It dosnt matter if its stock 5.4, or even a V6. An aftermarket exhaust will change the tone, usually for the better..Now with that said, the tone you get or want will vary depending on the kit you pick.

I won't be able to get a vid till tomorrow. I have no tunes and yes changing the stock muffler does make it sound different. Also depends on muffler construction, baffles/chambered. The Borla I have is 22", more compact than stock muffler. Hopefully I can get a clean soundclip to post

I was at Quality Bumper today getting some tint put on my windows and they had a stainless steel Magnaflow single in / dual side out for $975 installed. Not sure if this is a good exhaust or a good deal. Just throwing that out there.

The Magnaflow SIDO system is only $563 from AA so I wouldn't say $975 is a good deal.

I'm with you. My previous truck was an 04 Ram Hemi. When I pulled a horse trailer, my exhaust roared. A couple of friends with F-150's, one with Borla and the other Magnaflow, pulled my horse trailer. They both were louder than what I cared for. I guess I am getting old and am enjoying the quiet.

Now I still get a chubby and goose bumps when I hear a truck with a nice exhaust note.
