So, I currently have a 2008 4.2 V6 5-speed regular cab short bed that has been nothing but issues. So far I've had the following warranty work done: new leaf springs on both sides at 5k, something fixed in the steering column at 8k,new a/c compressor at 15k, new throttle body assembly at 15k, more a/c work done at 17k, new lifters at 17k, engine hoist brackets removed at 17k, rotors turned at 18k, transmission work at 18k. I take great care of my truck. Never go off road, towed once and never haul. One thing will get fixed and another pops up. None of the issues are related at all. Think I just got a bad one out of the batch.
Anyway, just curious about how the new F150s are? Any major issues? I'd like to finally get behind the wheel of a trouble-free vehicle. Man, what a great feeling that would be. I'm thinking about going with a 2009 or 2010 reg cab, short bed, 4x4 with either the 2v or 3v 4.6. I know one has the 4 speed and the other has the 6. Any info mas to which would better fit my needs would be great. Basically, I drive a truck because I think trucks look cool. Hey, just being honest. I do not need a truck that has a huge payload or anything along those lines. I will not be towing or hauling. Just a daily driver. What do you think would be my best choice? I do not need many options at all. However, trim-wise, I think I'd like to go with the STX or XLT. Thanks guys!

The 6-spd tranny is worth an infinite amount of money over the 4-spd IMO. Better acceleration and better fuel economy. If you want a 4x4 regular cab XL, the cost to upgrade to the 3V 4.6L AND 6-spd auto is only $895 MSRP.
Probably around 5k. Don't forget that it's winter (2-3 MPG lower than 'normal').
That is a string of problems. I think an upgrade is in your best interest. I honestly feel sorry for the guy who will get your truck though.

Sounds like you've got yourself a truck that's loaded with a number or random issues. Maybe you've finally addressed them all and it will now give you thousands of trouble free miles. I've owned one that was that way.
