Remote start/Garage door opener
Remote start/Garage door opener
Been quite a few years since posting over here but thinking about buying a 09 or 2010 F150 this afternoon. Has anyone had the Ford Remote start added after purchasing the truck? Does the heat or air come on when the remote start is activated depending on outside air temp? heated seats come on in winter with remote start? I have enjoyed this feature on my 07 Silverado.
I had added a homelink visor to my Lightning years ago and also put a homelink in the headliner of a 2002 FX4. Are the new ones in the visor and can be added as I did in the lightning? Anybody checked on the expense of these?
Any thing to look for besides the transmission shift problem on the 09/10's?

I added the Home Link visor to my 09 F-150 Lariat. I did not order the option that the visor came with. It was about $250 for the visor. Kinda expensive if you ask me, but well worth it. I do have the factory installed remote start. I have not found a way to turn on the heated seats so I would have nice warm seats when I got in it. Before I leave the truck, I set the temperature to hot and defrost etc.
Hope this helps.

I had a new remote start installed last week and it is by far the best one I've had. Coolest thing is that my remote is my iPhone, I don't need another keyfob hanging on my key ring and is has unlimited range. Pricey, but def has a cool factor. Probly will get a visor soon for the garage.
The salesman told me yesterday that the seats could be programmed where they came on when remote start was activated but I did not really believe him. He tried convincing me earlier in the day over the phone that a Lariat in the white platinum paint was a Platinum package truck when I was looking right at the sticker on the computer!!
Will see what happens.

For the OP I have the autopage remote start on my 10 F150, installed from the dealer. They would not install the ford one and said it was too expensive and didn't work as well. Mine has 2 way up to 1 mile of range.
I also have the universal gaage remote as part of the lariat plus package and it is great and super easy to program.

Can you tell me a little more about this unit? I am looking for something like this for my wifes mountaineer as she rides the bus to and from the park n ride.

not to threadjack, but does anyone know if the Home Link works all the time, or only if the key is on?
My wife parks in the garage and my '65 occupies the other half of the garage, so my vehicle gets to sleep in the driveway. Plus, I ride my motorcycle to work most days, so a halfway intelligent thief would know that all he has to do is break my window in the truck and press the Home Link button and he's in my house.
Would sure be nice if the Home Link only worked when the key was on... otherwise, I just won't program it. Major bummer if that's the case.
BTW, I don't have my truck yet. I've decided to wait for the new engine lineup in 2011.

Mine does the same. Works all the time.
Either of those solutions defeats the purpose of a garage door opener. I would have to go through the backdoor, into the garage, and undo the bar every day. No thanks. I'll just live without the Home Link in my truck unless I can figure out a way to disable it when the key is off...
I just bought a 2010 F-150 with the Ford remote start and do not like it. The system is not properly designed to be compatible with the MyKeys system. What happens is after the truck is remote started it will shut off as soon as the driver door is opened. This is not supposed to happen according to the remote start users guide. What is supposed to happen, as you may know, is the truck should remain running all the way through inserting the key and turning it to the run position and then continue to running until manually shut off. Ford is trying to save face by claiming that this problem is actually a new designed security feature. I am very disappointed to the point of demanding a refund and purchasing an after market system.
