Disable oil change warning?

I thought I would be lucky enough to avoid this, but I guess not. Obviously Ford has built in a 'leash' to draw people back into the dealerships based on mileage. I literally got my oil changed a week ago, and now the 'help center' on my dash is telling me that I only have 5% oil life left (I am approaching my first 7500 miles). I know I can go back to the dealer to have it 'reset', but I was wondering if that helpful piece of information can just be disabled entirely from the truck? I'm OK with the little sticker on the window telling me when to change my oil.

Will the dealer disable this if I ask him? Can the dealers disable it? If not, if I eventually get a programmer, can I disable it there? Is there some way I can disable it (On-Off-seatbelt-open glovebox-Brake-Reverse-Up-Down-Up-Down-A-B-A-B-Start)?

you can re set it every time you go get an oil change, right from the info center on the truck. takes less than 5 seconds.

Heck, you can re-set it to 100% every day if you wish. Whatever floats your boat.

Every day I try to re-set my fuel guage to 100% as well, but it never seems to work unless I actually pay to put fuel in the tank.

If you figure that one out, you'd better share the info!!

Yes, I can reset it. I want to know if I can just shut the stupid thing off permanently. It would be one thing if it actually did some sort of a viscosity test of the oil and alerted me, but just going off for passing <x> miles is just stupid and tacky.

I don't see how it's stupid or tacky. It's a high-tech "sticker on the window." And it's not like it pesters you every day. Just reset it to 100%, as is clearly explained in the owner's manual. Not like you go 7500 miles a week and have to see the reminder a lot.

I when I read this. The old Konami cheat code for Contra. I loved that game on my Nintendo.

I do agree that the oil light is some what annoying, I have it on my 08' Escape, but I just reset it manually as others have mentioned.
