Painting factory wheels...clear coat looks "dusty"
So, rather than buy new wheels for winter, I decided to paint my factory set. The paint turned out fine...after applying the clear coat, it looks kind of dusty. I may have been holding the clear coat spray can too far away. Should I lightly wet sand the wheels and try again? If so, what grit sand paper and how light should I sand?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I had that issue when i clear coated my taillights.. My issue was because I held the can too far away and also applied the coats too thin, so i wet sanded and reapplied the clear thicker and worked out great!

Use 400 to 600 grit wet or dry sand paper ( the black stuff )
absolutely. the wet sanding went well. still trying to get the sanding residue off. I'll start clear coating again tomorrow.
i had the problem of mine looking milky in some areas but i sanded them and reapplied it a little lighter and farther away and they came out good.
