My predicament

Finally decided that I'd invest in a new 2010 platinum F150. I wanted all the options (Nav/Tow/Access step/etc.) and I was impressed by the platinum white color.

The problem is there are no remaining fully-loaded platinum white models available in Alberta. I guess it was a popular color.

I have a couple options:
1) Convince myself that I like another color.
2) Factory order and wait 2 months for it to show up.

I had a black charger recently and it was a bugger to keep clean. My next choice would probably be the sterling grey. It is dark but maybe more forgiving than the black.

I'm sitting on the fence and I'd like a push. In my situation, would you factory order and wait? Or just get a black or sterling grey model?

Personally i would factory order. Then you know you are getting EXACTLY what you want on it.

I would order or tell the dealer to keep looking.

The sterling grey is starting to grow on me. I've seen a lot of nice photos. I wish I had the attention to detail to keep a black on clean and ding-free.

I saw a platinum going down the road today in a silver color (I'm guessing this is sterling gray?), It was VERY eye catching. I loved the color! Now if only they would offer a platinum in blue flame!

May have been the ingot silver. It is the lighter "silver/grey" of the two. I actually haven't seen the sterling grey or ingot silver. I'm in a small rural community and they don't have all the colors on the lot here. I can only see them on the computer or on a focus/fusion :P

Normally I wouldn't care a ton if it was a $20,000 car but after extended warranty, protection coat, etc. I'm approaching close to $60,000. I want to make sure this thing not only works good but looks good too.

If I were you I would order the exact truck you want. You sound like me.......you like what you like. I fell in love with the 2010 Lava Red Harley Davidson Edition and could not find one anywhere. I tried for a while to convince myself to go with the Tux Black but just couldnt. I am an instant gratification person and hate waiting. It has been very hard waiting (its now been 6 weeks) but boy oh boy will it be worth it in the end. I am told it will be here on 11/02 and I am loosing sleep over it. If you can wait the 8-10 weeks I highly recommend it. Good luck!

a 2 month wait is nothing - get what you really want so you won't regret it later when you see a white Platinum going down the road.

This was a pretty shiny version of "silver". I was unaware we had so many names for different shades of the same colors But like everyone else said get what you want, anything else won't be good enough. Trust me I know all about it, just took skimping on something once to realize I just needed to get what I really wanted. Order that bad boy up!

And I don't think your wait will really be 2 months. I ordered my King Ranch on Oct 9th. My dealer quoted 4-5 weeks. He's since notified me that my build-week is Oct 26th (meaning it'll be built one of the days that week). So I figure with travel time and such, I'll be getting it about a month after ordering.

I may be changing what I want. The more pictures I look at the more I think they all look good. I like the ingot silver the least and I'm shying away from black for maintenance reasons.

That leaves me with platinum white and sterling grey.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm about to fall off the fence and make a decision now.

I would order it exactly the way you want it. Thats what I did and have not regretted the waiting yet. It was tough to wait but worth every minute of it when you get to pick it up.

I would also go with the sterling grey but I am a little partial to that color.

There are some pics in my gallery if you'd like to look at a sterling grey one. I actually even ordered mine without seeing a sterling grey on the dealers lot to begin with.
