Are the caps on the manual XL mirrors the same as the power mirrors?

I too want white painted caps.

 

I don't believe you can buy them pre-painted anywhere. You can buy the PTM mirror caps from Ford. Then have them painted. The body shop at my dealer painted the pair for like $100. Then they look like this:

 

I want white caps too. You'd think someone on ebay would have some for sale, but I keep my eyes peeled with no luck so far.

 

yea i have them on my mustang ,came painted for 75 but they do not seem to have them for truck?

 

I had mine painted before I bought truck ("09 FX-4 SCAB). Dealer ordered "paintable" caps, then sent to local body-shop,removed caps that came on new truck, body-shop painted and installed new "painted" caps. They are "sharp looking". Also made deal with handles also, and had them swapped off from another truck on lot.

 

You can buy factory match paint in a spray can and spray them yourself. I've seen door handles done this way and it looks like a factory finish. Just pick up a can of clear to top it off and it should look good for way less than that.

 

Why cant we just buy the ones that are pre painted from ford ?someone must have a part # just askin.

 

^it's just the way it is man, only certain parts come pre-painted while other parts are already smooth but need painted. The caps were never available painted from 04-08, and they're not 09-10 either. Just like the door handles, you can't buy them all pre-painted, but they do sell the Mark LT/PLatinum style handles with chrome handles and prepainted buckets.

 

off of a FX4 luxury model I would assume? That's interesting they swapped them but they just screwed over someone who would be coming in to buy the FX4 Luxury model but then realize it's missing the painted door handles.
