You are correct about the gps in the sync head units - its there in 2010's but not in the 2009's. Of course if you have NAV, then you don't need turn by turn, weather and traffic information through sync.

 

I went to WM and bought a 4gb sandisk for 12.00 Went to syncmyride. Downloaded V3, Took it to my vehicle, went step by step. The book said I would need to re-sync my cell phone and it could take 20 minutes or more. I heard the first "Installation complete" as per the instructions and was told to wait until the same command. Well after a half an hour, said heck with this. But when I came back to my computer, plugged the USB back in, clicked the link to acknowledge update and sure enough it said V3 installed successfully??My phone still worked so I don't think it took, or I already had it. I notice no difference at any rate.
