Add - Sliding Rear Window/Glass ????
Add - Sliding Rear Window/Glass ????
Has anyone checked on the price to add a sliding rear window glass after delivery????
Has anyone checked on adding it at the dealer before delivery for the factory cost????
Curious........looking at a truck solid rear window/defrost..........just curioius what it would cost to add later.
Somewhere here I read that the wiring was in place.........simply add the window and plug it up. There would probably be a switch required in the overhead console.
Thanks for any info!!!

My old truck had solid rear window and it was fine. My new KR came with power sliding rear window, which I really didn't want. I already have a water leak and the truck is at the dealer getting repaired. What do people use the rear sliding window for anyway? Other than throwing out old beer cans. It really seems useless and prone for problems.
Someone did a write up on how to do it yourself recently. You can find it in that section. Also, a couple of months ago someone posted a site with the sliding window. I don't recall where it's at off the top of my head but it's definitely on here.

Man, I love the sliding rear window, especially with the sunroof... though it's useful even without the sunroof. Its good for creating and controlling a nice airflow through the truck and minimizing if not eliminating the wind buffeting that occurs when you have the windows down...
I use mine almost daily...

Having a '02 SCrew, I lean toward the side of not having a power sliding window. It adds costs and complication. If it is a manual slider then it is never used. There are times when it is nice to have, but this depends heavily on climate. It is just to humid in the midwest (and the midwest is vast). I prefer air conditioning and a solid window to save bucks and problems. If you want one, it would be expensive, but manageable for the dealer to install one in your truck. This assumes the interior panels are the same from model to model and if you just have to have a 'Ford' part.
In my old '86 standard cab Toyota without air, the sliding rear window was a god send!

Yeah, if I had the choice on my Platinum, I would have opted for solid window w/defrost. But now you can get slider w/defrost, so now you have the best of both worlds. Just too bad it didn't exist in 2009.
