New TSB for Platinum owners

There is a new TSB out for the Platinum owners - it may not apply to you, but it concerns the rear tailgate applique seperation, stating "some 2009 F-150 Platinum vehicles may exhibit tailgate applique seperation from the sheet metal".

The TSB is 09-18-8, dated September 3, 2009.

Nice, I will bring this in to my dealership when I go to get mine fixed. The guy there accused me of pulling on it and causing it to separate.

ibcop, great post - thanks for sharing...mine appears rock solid - but I'll keep an eye out just in case! Seems Ford didn't quite get the adhesive for the tailgate cover or the headliner worked out on these new F-150's! Seems silly, as they have great adhesive tapes out now - as a matter of fact the adhesive Ford used on the B Pillar trim pieces that I changed out on my '05 Lariat was almost impossible to remove...had to cut it in half then individually peel off the adhesive backing from each side...tough stuff!

Thanks - I thought I would post it just in case.

Nice, thanks for the post. Mine has started to separate at the top right corner (actually started several months ago). Figured I'd just wait and mention it the next time I take it in, but at least now I can take it in sooner and not have to worry that they can't/won't do anything about it.

According to the TSB, it is a pretty intense procedure - it allows just over 2 hours, but you know it'll probably take longer, depending on how hard the adhesive is to get off.

I had this problem with my Platinum within the first month.
Mine started separating on the top drivers side.
They replaced the panel without any hassle - it did take them most of the day.
Glad to see they are acknowledging the issue exists!
