Great responses

I appreciate all the responses. It seems the new truck is really roomy. Why don't I check one out myself? I'm stuck in Swussyland - er ah Switzerland - for the moment. When I am back for a few weeks in November I will check them out for myself. Sadly I have to go back to Swussyland so I won't be buying until late next year. The only good thing about this is that Ford will have two production runs to further improve the truck. If I could I would get one now. Again, thanks to all.

I'm 6'4" as well and my 03 Screw back seat is just okay if I sit behind a driver's seat adjusted to my liking. My knees have to go around the front seatback for example. I sat in a new 2010 model at a dealer, set up the front seat, then climbed in the back. Lots more space than my 03. I could stretch out my legs, not straight, but out.

Load flat floor doesn't matter to me as my back seat will be filled with 3 child seats for years. I prefer the storage behind my back seat now, though. Can't access them with child seats installed anyway.

The 2009+ Screw 5.5' bed is 6" longer overall than our 2003 models. The 6.5" bed option will be 18" longer than your current truck. I have a 22' deep garage, and have plenty of room now. I can barely squeeze through with the tailgate down. After living with the 5.5" bed for over 6 years, I would get a 5.5' bed again. The payload is lower for the 6.5' bed, turning radius a little larger, etc.

Check out the payload increase in the 2010 Screws with the Max tow package.

APT, Your thoughts regarding bed sizes makes me wonder. Based a posts I have read I am leaning towards the 6½ bed - mostly for looks. I too have the 5½ bed now and it has handled everything I have wanted to haul. My trucks fits in my garage with maybe 12" to spare. The turning radius issue may be something to consider. Afterall, it involves everyday driving. The new 5½ bed will probably fit in my garage, but unfortunately my truck has to go between the door to the house and my wife's side of the garage. A truck of any greater length will cause her to have to walk outside and around my truck. Doubt that would go over well. Likely a new truck for me would have to sit outside.

Glad to hear this. I've sat in a couple 04-08 Screws and found the rear legroom on them to be less than my 01's. Great to hear the 09's have more legroom.

Also keep in mind the bed is full width on the 2004+ Screws, unlike ours which is a little narrower. Not quite flareside narrow, but not as wide as my 99 Supercab was. Still, I've never missed the space. Maybe I could get an extra half yard of landscape material with the longer bed, but the suspension doesn't handle the weight anyway.

+1 on the size- I am 6'5" and can sit very comfortably in the rear with the front sets set back. My teen age son loves it- huge and roomy- like a limo, IMHO.

As far as garage, I can't imagine this beast will fit in a standard garage (I have the 6.5' bed). I built two bays specifically large to accommodate large trucks or SUVs, ad with the front tires at the wheel stop, I have 4" between the bumper and the closed garage door.

I have an 09 Supercab with the 6.5 foot bed and its a roomy almost as the crew cab...I am 6'2 and with the front seats at a normal driving position, I can fit pretty comfy in the back seat..I am very impressed with the room in the Supercab...It saved me a few grand in price and I have almost as much room as the Screws do

Todd has never been in the back of a Supercrew. The seat bottom is shorter. The seatback is more vertical. I've ridden in the back on my 99 Supercab (smaller than the 2004+) when my 5'5" wife drives. It was okay for short trips. No way could I sit behind myself. That means, set up the driver's seat to comfortable driving position, then get out and climb in the rear seat directly behind the driver.

I'm not knocking the Supercab. It is what is is. If it meets a person's needs, save $2500! But the back seat length is smaller than a Focus and I cannot get 3 child seats in one.

2004-2008 Scab - should be same as 2009

Found a 2009 similar shot

Best not to fret about it, Todd. You got what you got and it meets your needs.
