Factory Remote Start Security System Self Install

Anyone here install the factory remote start alarm themselves? I was going to have the Ford dealership do it but they just outsource to a car audio company I never heard of. Quoted me over the phone $85 then when I got there $300. I figure I might just tackle this install myself. If anyone has already done this themselves let me know if you have any tips.

I wasn't talking about purchasing the kit from Travis - I meant for you to contact him via email or telephone and ask his opinion on the install. The guy works with this type of stuff on a daily basis.

ouch, $75. I would have tried following the Ford instructions at first to see if you could figure it out.

Most Ford dealers do sub-out that kind of work. Not sure if I mentioned this to you or not before, but sometimes you can find guys on Craigslist advertising that they can install alarms/remote starters and that they will come directly to your house to install it.

He also changes the PATS interface thingy. He said the little ring mechanism is kinda weak so he cuts it and makes a braided version of it that is more secure.

Nice thanks! I think I can just do it myself isntead of sending it out for prewiring...

But I wonder if its worth Travis rewiring the securilock antenna ring. He said the antenna ring has issues and he changes it. What do you guys think?

I never had issues with my PATS antenna, 2.5 years of use on an older truck, and the past 5 years on my 04 FX4. and we installed it the regular way on my 09.

btw, that website has the same instructions I already gave you.

What's up Steve! Yea I noticed they were the same. I am back in the boat of installing it myself since the local stealership changed there price on me.

I'm glad you replied I wanted to ask what part did your installer guy not need to use? I think I'm just going to install the PATS the normal way.

he didn't use the C-extended harness since there's no real options to hook up on our trucks.
