Upgrading Rear Shocks

What are my options for upgrading my rear shocks? I just don't like the soft bouncy feel of the stock black shocks. Should I go Bilstein? Rancho? etc? What is probably the best model shock for our new trucks?

I added rancho 9000XL and I like them. 10 pt adjustable. And it will change em. @ 10 its a rock. Other option is bilstein HD or 5100.

I am also very interested to know this as well, the one dislike I have about my truck is the way the back end feels going over rough streets like potholes and sewer grates.

I installed Monroe Reflex shocks over a year ago. They really help to control the rear and keep it planted over bumps, ride is good too.

I had the Bilstein 5100's on my old Tacoma on all 4 corners and LOVED them. Not sure if they will do the same on a bigger heavier truck? What are the bilstein HD's? I will have to do a lil search on those.

EDIT: Oh I am a dummy did a search and it looks like the HD's are the standard bilstein shocks.

I am waiting for the blistiens to be made for the 2009 fx4...I will get them when they come out....may add a little more height to my level.....and something else to mod before I get exhaust and tune done...still up in the air about the tune..I hear mixed reviews.

My only complaint about the 9000xls is any gravel roads will destroy the dial on the shock. If I bought them again I'd simply clamp some kind of rubber curtain or find someway to protect them.

Yea I am going to wait for the 5100's as well. Hope they finish the R&D on them already! What type of exhaust/muffler you thinking about? I am between a flowmaster and a magnaflow muffler swap.

On my 99 F150 I installed Edelbrock shocks all around and really liked them. Not sure if they are available for the 09's yet.

Just in case you guys are interested, I did not want to wait forever for Bilstein to come out with the shocks for the 2009 F150 so I ordered the Bilstein HD shocks for the 2008 model and they work perfectly. The rears will be the exact same as the 2008 and when I had the front factory shocks removed from my new truck, they had the same dimensions as the Bilsteins that I had ordered that were for a 2008 truck. The fully compressed and fully expanded range is the same and they look identical. The truck rides awesome. Just thought I would pass this on.

By the way, I have had Rancho 9000XL shocks on a previous 2005 F150 4x4 and they did not hold up well and the Bilsteins provide much better compression and rebound control.

I am going with magnaflow or borla...not sure yet.....been told magnaflow has a great sound when you hit the gas but no loud vibration when on highway...I have a young one so no loud sound when on highway....also want the performance of the magnaflow.
