just installed HIDs from retro-solutions
installed HIDs from retro-solutions(UPDATED PICS)
i installed the 6000k hi/lo hids from retro-solutions....i had them on my mustang and their service cant be touched as far as warranties go so i went with them again..(i dont work for them i just really like their products so far)....the results are amazing....these 09's have really good cut-offs compared to my 05 mustang..install was easy too....for those looking to do this mod but want projector headlamps dont wait and listen to all that hype...these headlamps are great ....in order to take out the stock bulbs you must remove the headlamp housing....this was ALOT easier than i thought it would be (just read the manual it's straight-forward) STEP 1 replace the stock bulbs with the supplied bulbs from the kit(bulbs fit nice and tight)..STEP 2 mount the ballasts on the frame behind the headlamp housing on the bottom(i think it is the radiator shroud frame) this allows for a clean look after installation bc you will not see them and is the only flat place to drill the self tapping metal screws into( from prior experience do not just use double sided tape..it will dry out and break loose eventually) STEP 3 lay out the relay...the power wire connects to the fuse box on top of the radiator in the middle of the engine bay..use the power screw on the left of the fuse box...then run the rest of the relay to the ballasts and headlamps( which are close to eachother bc i mounted the ballasts on that frame behind the headlamps)plug the 2 main connectors (on each side)to each wire from the new bulbs and the passenger side has a third connector for those who opt for the hi/lo feature...plug the old headlight socket from the passenger side into the connector on the relay( the old drivers side headlight socket does not get used) ....next ground the relay on both side(VERY IMPORTANT to get a good ground) i used retainer clips for each fender on the driver and pas sides (make sure the ground is touching the metal fender and not the plastic bumper under it) then plug the conncetor on each side to the ballast STEP 4 reinstall the headlamps THATS IT...NOTE you need to disable the auto perimeter lights feature which flashes your headlamps upon unlocking the door..if not the constant flashing will burn out the ballasts and bulbs since hids need alot of power to start up..this is in the manual under security features i believe..also while i had the headlamps removed, i caught a glimpse of that snorkel that goes from the fenderwell to the airbox..i removed it since it looked very restrictive...all in all the install was easy and most importantly looks clean like from factory..i will post some pics later this week

lifetime as long as your the original owner...if any bulb or ballasts burns out they send you a new one as long as you send them a picture of your after you cut it open or break it...i had a bad bulb (which is rare from them ) on my mustnag i called them and they told me to email them a pic of it with the wires cut at the base of the bulb..they sent me a new one within 2 days....cant beat that...i paid 193 shipped for my kit and ill never have to buy a new bulb again
I'd like to see the pics as well. And you are doing the fogs as well - it would look "unbalanced" to have HID's in the headlamps but not the fogs - unless you don't use the fog lamps.
Post some pics!
Post some pics!
i do not have before pics but i will get some after...i did not do the fogs yet..i will be in the future tho....

Hype? Projectors are king for a reason. Until you actually post some cutoff pics don't make a statement like that. I had acura tl projectors in my super duty. No way I will ever be satisfied with hids in a halogen housing.
Low Beam & Fogs, both HID 6000K from inside the cab;

High Beam, Bi-Xenon from inside the cab;

I'm happy with the results.
DeereGeff, those shots look good but the line on the building gives the illusion of a cutoff and reduction of glare that I am fairly certain is not as pronounced as it is perceived to be. If you look closely the enlightened area is near/just below that line on the building and then a good 2' above it is where the glare begins to diminish. Glad you are happy with your purchase but I want to see some wall shots pre and post HID drop-in kits and then people can draw their own conclusions.
09fx4 well they do have a great customer service i e-mailed them today and this is the response. We are in Connecticut Ken, however out phone service hours are limited to 5pm-11pm EST Mon.-Fri. due to the service hours for custom retrofitting.
