same here, the front grill, taillight accents, top reverse light and both bumpers are good enough for me. Any more than that and it starts to look like the trucks that someone went through and bought every chrome piece they could.

 

Now that I think about it I think a leather wrapped steering wheel comes with the chrome package on the XLT.

Still thinking about being upsold - trust me, I looked on my own using the Ford dealer search feature. I used every zip code I could find in the Houston area and came up with nothing. The ford site has a pretty good search function - it allows you to search cab style, trim level, color, and 4x2 or 4x4. You can then click on the truck that fits your criteria and look at the window sticker.

So...no, I wasn't really upsold by the dealer as the dealer that did the XLT search for me wasn't even the one that I bought the lariat from. I decided on my own to consider the Lariat and ended up going to a different dealer because they had a truck that matched what I was looking for.

 

I just purchased an 09, Dark Blue with Silver (two tone) and the chrome pkg; love it so far.
I could not locate one locally; my dealer found one in NY State (about 2.5 hrs away) and was able to make a swap with one he had on his lot; they delivered it in 2 days. I've noticed locally there were several Lariats, King Ranch and Platinum models, but few if any XLT's I was looking for. Keep in mind, most dealers can do a "floor plan swap" with another dealer in his territory

since i don't want to take apart a door how much would it be to swap out the chrome door handles for black ones?

love the truck...i have an 08 dark blue/pearl metallic silver screw XLT w/ chrome pkg...waiting on tow mirrors to arrive before i post a pic...right now i have all chrome handles, fuel door, half mirror caps, front/rear bumper, 3rd brake light cover, and grill, didnt go with the chrome door pillars, rain guards, or chrome bugs shield, they're all black...when my truck is cleaned, it's SHARP, i get all kinds of comments, i wish i could afford wheels/tires...but can't...when i post pic you'll be shocked at how good the chrome looks...

 

Sorry about the darkness of the pictures...the trucks a lot sharper than these present it, the weathers very cloudy today...i know i need wheels/tires to give it that tough look, but i cant afford any right now...lmk what you think
