Just curious, do you guys with the problem have console or column shift? Wondering if the problem is related to one specific type.

Guys - I am the original thread starter. I have a lariat with the shifter built into the center console. I have had the truck since June and this only happened to me once when I originally bought the truck and started this thread. I spoke with two dealerships but never actually had the truck looked at by a tech because I can't replicate the problem and know they won't be able to either. This problem hasn't happened to me again - and I spent a considerable amount of time trying to get the truck to roll on its own. I have found that the problem most likely was me not having the shifter 100% in park...but as someone stated above the key should not have come out of the ignition. I actually might try later today to see if the truck is almost in park but not all the way there if the key will come out or not.

Seems like there are three of us on this forum now that have had this problem...

That's BS, putting the tranny in Park is sufficient. If it dont, it's broke, take it back until it's fixed. If they cant fix it, LEMON LAW it. Dont buy this "its's within spec" bull****.

It's normal for a vehicle to be able to roll a few INCHES, maybe even up to a foot (MAX), but more than that, is broke and needs to be fixed. You should not have to use the parking brake to keep your vehicle in one spot.

Unhappy 2009 F-150 Rolling when in Park

Hi,
I have had the same issue with my 2009 EXT, where the truck was rolling when the vechile was in park and the key was not in the ignition. Actually it was a bit nerve racking. I was at the tail end of the truck getting something out, and the vechile started to roll. I managed to get out of the way, but by the time the truck had stopped it had rolled 10 ft. This has now happened twice to me. Additionaly on occassion when I go to start it the ignition key won't turn. I think it is all somehow related.

Did anyone ever figure out what the problem was that was causing this? I dropped it off at the dealership twice and they have not been able to reduplicate the problem.

My Dealer has been super.
I let them know it happened again.
I wrote the BBB and Ford on the address on the Lemon law card I got at signing. I looked up the Auto Safety department on line and filled out a form.
Before any of that could be even be processed my Dealer was on the phone telling me they have ordered in a complete new transmission and it is being installed in about an hour. Only down side is they need the truck for 2 days more.. but a good trade off. Have about 22K miles, 13 months old, new tranny for free (Actually about $44K- the price I paid).
So far the dealer and Ford has been super. Glad we have not had a wreck or damage. You can bet I am going to check it multiple times in the next few months.
