door dings...

I don't have any and I don't want any either. Is there any kind of trim I can put along the side of the truck to help prevent this without it looking like crap?

That is the only reason I've left my factory tube steps on. They keep all the smaller cars doors off mine if I have to park in a crowded lot.

that is about all they are good for!

They hug the truck to close and are not wide enough for my feet. I am 6.2 and they are just in the way getting out....no the ones on the Super Dutys are great, nice and wide.

Could you just pick up a set of the Platinum chrome strips along the entire side of the truck? Glad they are there, since the power running boards don't protect my truck anymore like my old platform running boards.

I thought about that, but I don't want people thinking I'm trying to make a Plat out of my XLT.

I wonder if they come in all black so it blends in more?

I never use the steps so they are useless other than a "door ding preventer" for me.

I think the only sure-fire way to 'prevent' them is to never park anywhere near anyone else. Pack a backpack and hike it in when you go to the mall...

I personally think that any trim that you add to the vehicle will likely make it look worse than what the benefit would provide... JMO.

I work downtown Milwaukee. Parking can get pretty tight in some lots.

When at work, I find the parking spots further away, with little interest from others to park there or I try to find the corner slip and park it at an angle and as close to the curb as possible.

If park in congested spots, it's only a matter of when and how many dings you get.

Rockpick - Have you seen me around before? My wife and kids complain that a park a million miles away from everything.

I work have watched people open their car doors like a barn door in a hurricane. My skin crawls. I used to double park my other ford truck and 68 Chevelle when I was at work. I got endless flack for doing this. I am a parking sinner. I stopped and within 3 months I had 9 big dings in the truck with the step bars. I stopped driving the Chevelle to work.... Now I found a parking structure level way out at the far end of the complex and park there. Everyone asks where's your truck. Why don't you park here? I end my rant here......

yep, sometimes it doesn't matter where you park.

and the running boards are only good for cars, they don't protect from other trucks or SUV's.

I would say since your truck is black, the molding would blend in alot better and shouldn't look too bad. But I'm not sure where you can get a molding strip, I'm guessing there's aftermarket ones out there somewhere.

I agree. My wife fusses and says here father rides around forever looking for a good parking spot and I ride around forever looking for a bad parking spot.

The best away i have found to stop door dings is remove each door and place it in the bed I really starting to feel like this may be the only option. Lately i have parked so far out of the way and still some POS is parked right next to me!! really dude come on. I wish we had that technology like what tanks have where if a projectile hits the tank the Armour explodes in the opposite direction. Be funny to watch someone open there door into yours and then it blows there door of it's hinges. Have some lol

Just found this lol. Could be an option

Line-x your whole car
