There is a chevy pickup that parks where I work all the time, and the entire bottom half of it is line-x'd. Not in purple though, in black.

It's a black truck, so you don't notice it too bad at first until you walk closer and then you're like, wth? It's like 1/3 of the truck is line-x'd - kinda reminds me of those old avalanche vehicles with the grey trim going about 1/3 of the way up the entire vehicle. Uggh.

Yup, you can park in the next county and some dipstick will park right next to you..........

The problem is every brand of car door is a different hight and shape. You could have to cover nearly the whole door area with them to stop the dings.

true...but some protection is better than none. My last car had a lot of dings...I'd just like to keep this one dingfree for as long as possible.

Speaking of door dings - I only had my truck a week before getting the first ding.

I do my best to park against a curb, and where no one else would want to park, and then hike it. Even then, some moron will park right next to me.
