Will dirtbikes fit in the back w/ 5.5' bed

I will be getting an 09 Screw very soon, but I need the 5.5' bed for work and the 6.5' bed for play.

I own a Suzuki RMZ 450 and my buddy owns a Honda CRF 450 and I need something that can get these bikes to the desert. These are big bikes and I am not even sure if they will fit with the tailgate down. The 5.5' bed is soooo small, it might not work.

On the other hand, I live in So Cal and the 6.5' bed might be tough to park in certain parts of LA. I want the longer bed, but I am not sure it is a good option for someone who works in downtown LA alot.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHhhhhhhhhhh....................

Both bikes are roughly 85"-86" in length with the Honda being the longest slightly. They'll fit in the 5.5' bed with the tailgate down. The rear tire will be just about even with the end of the tailgate I think. The factory weight of both bikes together is about 475 pounds.

They'll fit. If you're worried about leaving the gate down get a gate extender. If you don't want to do that buy a 3 rail motorcycle trailer for like $300. Surely you can afford a $300 trailer if you're buying a $35k truck?

Thanks for the quick replies. I guess I will be going with the 5.5' bed. I don't think the bed extender will work. The tire will probably be hanging off the back. I guees I will have all the extra storage space in the crewcab, so maybe I don't need the bed extender.

I like the trailer idea, but then there is the storage issue. I do live in So Cal, storage space is at a premium.
