Keep in mind that you can't just walk in there, slap this down and tell them to "apply this update please." If you're really having the problem, explain it to the service guy and they will follow proper diagnostic procedure which includes checking for potential TSBs that address the problem, as previously stated in this thread.

Hi all,

My truck has the trans temp guage issue but not the transmission (It seems smooth). Is the temp guage problem bad for the truck?

That is not always the case with every dealer. I explained the problem to the tech the last time i had the truck in and he had a weird look and his face... then followed it up with, "never heard of that". Then gave me the see you later.

But I just think that guy was an A$$ hat.

Thanks for all the info though guys.

Well .. got my truck back with the 091105 TSB installed. I think it's a big improvement. Before, it seemed like it didn't know what gear it should be in when I was making a slow turn around 5-7mph (1st ,2nd, or3rd). Now it just a nice smoth shift . If feels as if it stay in the gears (1st,2nd& 3rd) just a hair longer. Maybe it just me. I like so far.....

I have a 2010 F-150 XLT SCab 4x4 4.6L that exhibits the same shudder between 1st and 2nd. Is very pronounced at slow speeds, but not as noticable during quick excellerations. Also, a pronouced downshift from 2nd to 1st on a quick stop. Also, can feel a noticable bump, almost like a slight down shift when I let off the brake then hit it again, as when inching up to a stop to see around corner. TSB 09-11-05 applies to 2009s, but not to 2010s. There is TSB 09-20-14, but that seems a bit different. Dealer can't seem to get an info from Ford on this issue as it relates to this 2010. Anyone having the same experience with 2010, and any additional info on possibly another TSB.

I have a 2010 FX4 and every once in a while i will notice a very hard 2-1 shift when doing a quick stop. Its a hard enough shift to make me realize it ( which isnt something normal to me) since it only happens every so often, I havent bothered going back to the dealer..YET

That makes 3 of us. I am in a 2010 Lariat. Since this is my first Ford I just thought it was a big ole american tranny that was a little rough around the edges.

I have an Expedition that does this also. Again dealer said there is nothing out there on it. Just get it documented in the system for when a reflash does comes out.

Im taking my rig in tomorrow to see what they tell me. I already had it reflashed once when the first apparent "fix" came out, but it really didn't change anything. I really hope this time it smoothes out the shifting issue. I'm getting quite annoyed at how it basically slams into 2nd, and comming to a stop it basically shudder/studders as it downshifts like its falling into gear. If that makes sense.

I have a 2010 5.4 Platinum that seems to also have a harsh 1-2 upshift.

That is the slip yoke. Ask for it to be serviced. They pull it, grease it and slip it back in. 10min fix and the clunk goes away.

The studder is something different. Almost like a torque converter.
