Speaking of chips (hope I am not taking this thread too far off topic...)

I'm going to pick up a bottle of touch-up paint at the dealer next week.

With my wife's VW, the factory touch-up paint came with a bottle of clear coat to apply over the paint after drying.

Does Ford have the clear also?

You cant get all the colour types and clear coats at most auto stores. I got mine from advanced auto.

OK - thanks -

I was going to get the paint from the dealer - just assuming that it would be the best....

Good to know I can get the clear at Advanced Auto.

White Sand, when clean, will blind you in the sun.

Another thing. Am I crazy or does anyone else the wash inside the rear tire well? I think doing so keeps the truck showroom clean.

i too wash the inside of my front and rear tire will as well as the inside of the rim. but i just turned over 20,000 miles and i got a shyt load of chips on my front bumper. the body shop that did the body work on the front after my accident a year ago claims its stone chips. but i seen the paint bubble for myself then peel. but the winters here in p.a are really bad though..they use rocks and salt for the snow on roads. its nasty. i do a 2 stage touch up. looks good.

They looked at it and said there was nothing Ford could do about it as it is was caused from driving on gravel. WTF!!! I have a 4x4 and am not to drive on gravel! I went right into the salesman's office who I bought the truck from. The dealership is going to pay for the repair of the fender flare. Once it is painted I am going to put the 3M protection film on the flare to prevent future paint chips. So for all you folks out there with the white sand paint....watch your rear fender flares(and don't drive on gravel!!!!)
Dont use a pressure washer, thats part of your problem right there.

The paint is great on my 05. Closing in on 50k miles and only a couple of very small chips on the bumper. My wife's Accord which was purchased about the same time and has the same milage is nothing but chips and nicks all over the front. I have never seen so many paint chips as on the Honda. If I ever own another Honda it is getting a clear bra.

Except for the orange peel Ford's paint seems to be pretty tough.
