Rain, Rain, go away.....

Well, it happened.

It actually rained here. Almost never rains here in the month of May. In any case, it did last night. So I got in my truck to leave for work and started to back up. Realizing I forgot something. I stopped and got out to retrieve the laptop. I opened the door and ….OMG, I thought that I was parked under a waterfall. So much water poured off of the roof, down the pillar (whatever you call the door jamb between the front and back door) and all over the side of the seat and floor.

I think I remember a post that mentioned this, but couldn’t find it. I remember I was thinking, doesn’t rain here much so that is not going to happen to me. Serves me right for thinking that.

Ford needs to redesign the rain gutter on the new trucks. Or provide a hooded raincoat and rubber boots.

the only time i get this is when i open the door as soon as i stop as the water rushes from the groves in the roof to the front of the truck then go everywhere from there. If you give it a few seconds before you get out of the truck the water will have run off in time for you not to get wet. Same goes if you open the windows then pull away after it's been raining.

Anytime I open my door while its raining or just after a rain, a significant and uncomfortable amount of water drips into the cab on me and the seat. Its something that should be addressed and should not acceptable in a modern vehicle.

Its been raining here in central Florida for about two weeks straight. The issue has become more than a little annoying.

There is a whole lot of water that sits in the roof channels. There has to be at least a half gallon of water that it can hold.

Guys the most simple way to stop this is let the truck sit for a few secs before you get out. I had the same exact problem when we had about 2 weeks of rain and learnt not to open the windows as im stopping and starting and to let the truck sit for a couple of secs before getting out. Once your moving it's fine and you can even open the windows when it's raing but the roof channels hold so much water that when you stop and suddenly open the door the water seems to move over to one side. Our Dodge durango does the exact same thing as the roof is such a large flat area. you will soon get used to getting out of the car a couple of secs later.

yeah, I previously was talking about that on here. also be sure to drive for a little bit before rolling your windows down too, otherwise the water will pour in the sides.

How long do I let it sit. Isn't in my driveway all night long enough? When the truck has sat stationary in the rain, a significant amount of water drips in when I open the door. Not a big a deal when I'm running causal but if I've got a handful of paperwork and in a suit and tie headed or the office, its a little more than annoying.

Last week I washed my truck, drove 5 miles down the road, it poured.
Today, I washed the truck, drove 8 miles down the road, it poured, 2 weeks in a row!!!
And the rest of the week looks wet too.

The only time mine drips water is either when the truck is moving and you open the windows a few secs after pulling away or when i stop when it's been raining and i open the doors as soon as i come to stop. If you are opening your doors and water is pooring in then something is wrong. I just been in SC and we had a 30 secs down poor and my wife opened the window as we pulled away and it soaked her. Now if she had opened the windows about 2-3 secs later she wouldnt have got wet at all.
