Stolen FX4 Wheels

I bought a FX4 Screw last week with 20" wheels and yesterday morning I walked outside to see my truck on blocks. I was pretty pissed to say the least and when I called the Ford dealer to try and find another set they said there was only one set showing and that was at the factory in Michagan. I really liked the factory FX4 wheels but eneded up going aftermarket. Ford charges $600 a piece for the wheels so they are prime target for theft, just wanted to give everybody a heads up if you like your factory wheels you might want to buy some wheel locks.

Oh and if you run across anyone in the Dallas area trying to sell a set kick them in the junk for me.

That sucks, sorry to hear that you got your wheels stolen. $50 for a good set of wheels locks is always a good investment. Hopefully you had insurance and they will cover the cost of your new set.

I hate Dallas...

My brother had his 2001 Civic SI stolen there a few years ago out of his gated apartment community. They found the car a few days later in a ditch completely stripped of everything.

Yeah Gieco wrote me up for $4100 less my $500 deductible. I went for Moto Metal 951s with BFG TKOs instead of those crap pirelli tires and got out the door at Discount tires for $3650 so it was pretty much a wash other than the pain in the butt dealing with it.

You'd think that with Dallas being the only place in the world where cars are stolen that they'd do something about it.

Woah! What sized tires did you get? Sounds like you got ripped off...

I got my wheels and 285/65/20 BFG TA/KOs for around $2k...

Ford wants your truck vandlized/stolen that's where they make their money. I bet Ford's cost on the $600 wheel is less than $150.

You should see the replacment cost for the platinums 20"'s

But i tryed to get some looking wheel nuts when i had my windows tinted and the wheel expert said that you have to get the right type for the wheels and that just any locking wheel nut wont work. Whats he mean by this. I thought as long as it's the same thread it should work!! Advanced auto said the same thing when i looked in there. What do i have to look for or do i have to go dirct with ford?

The wheels where $325 and the tires $360 which might be a little high but I needed them ASAP. Also when you switched wheels you still had your tire pressure moniters so that saved you $250. Plus i went ahead and payed for the replacement certificates which ran $65 a tire. I could probaly have stayed around 2K if I had been able to shop around and plan ahead but stolen is always going to cost more.

Still that seems like a lot to pay for a set of wheels and tires.

No TPS on mine

You can get Moto Metals 951s in the 18" size from $110-$150 pretty easily. The 20"s only run about $100 more.

The tires sound about right for a 285/65/20.

Did you go 18" or 20"?

Glad insurance paid for it and not you!

Man... that's harsh. Sorry to hear about someone messing with your truck.

I'm on to a set of 18" Goodyears off of a 2009 ... I may snag them for the tires (even though I'll get the wheels along with it -- and will sell them).
