You can get Moto Metals 951s in the 18" size from $110-$150 pretty easily. The 20"s only run about $100 more.

The tires sound about right for a 285/65/20.

Did you go 18" or 20"?

Glad insurance paid for it and not you!

I went with the 20" and I knew the guy was a little high but he was willing to send a guy to my house to installed them and worked with me for a good hour and a half to find a set of wheels I liked and get everything coordinated. The ford dealers don't carry the TPS monitor in stock so he had to get a courier to bring a set from their main warehouse and the wheels came from some wholeseller's warehouse in the area. I would have definitely tryied to work him down if he had everything in his shop but with the circumsatnces what the they were I am pretty happy, walked into discount tire at 9:30am and had a guy at my house at 4 putting them on.

I had a freind that was a manager at discount tire for a few years and believe me I know what kind of deals they can make under the right circumstances. I got a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers 325/65R18 put on with replacement certifcates for under $800 a couple years back. That was deal.

Whew! Those are some pricey wheels. I think I'll hold onto my stock aluminum 17's!

I thought I was going to hold to my stock wheels too, but some a-hole wanted them more than i did. They are just lucky that I didn't hear them because I would spending my holiday weekend scrubbing blood stains off my driveway.

Can someone tell me what a replacement certificate is/is for? I've never heard of it.

If the tire fails you get it replaced. Almost like insurance for your tires.

Yeah it does not cost you anything expect another certificate to cover the new tire new tire. You can actually buy certificates for your tires even if you did not buy them from them. That is what I did for my stockers and have used it twice already!

I got lucky that I got that much for the wheels and tires because the adjuster looked up Ford's price on the wheels and then looked up what the BFG ATs cost and paid me for that even though it had those cheap a$$ pirelli tires on it from the factory. The pirelli tires are $150 and the BFGs are $400 so I guess the adjuster could have gave me $1000 less if they had wanted.

As far as my insurance rates going up they should stay pretty much the same since it was just theft and no fault of mine. Gieco did raise my rates by like $30 a year for the "custom wheels" I have now, which is bogus to me since my new wheels cost less than stock Ford 20s.

I always hoped they would be too lazy to take my 20's off my F250. At 8,600lbs and eight lugs per wheel. They might hurt themselves or break a sweat at least... Did you get new tire pressure sensors etc???

Those extra eight lugs would translate to about 30 seconds of their time and since they can get over $1000 for the set that's not going to deter them. Yeah I got new tire pressure monitors, it is eveidently agaisnt the law for tire shops to install wheels without them if they where orginally equiped.

Talked to a guy at work, they hit eight trucks and SUV's in his McKinney hood. They used tapered wood blocks pushed under the axles and arms. They pulled the valve cores which left the weight sitting on the blocks. So they never even wasted time jacking the cars up. I assume they used a cordless impact on the lugs...
