f-150 2009 King Ranch

Hello other 2009 F-150 enthusiasts. I got my King Ranch about 2 months ago and love it. I had only one issue; I ordered it with the bug shield and it took awhile to figure out that's what has been causing an annoying buzzing sound that starts at about 60mph and keeps increasing in volume. The dealership in WNC had a smart guy that analysed the problem and remove the bug shield and now the cab is very quiet at most speeds. The Sync is amazing; my wife and I have used it to find particular types of restaurants, nearby gas prices, even to find ice cream once! We also have called up weather radar maps on the nav screen; way cool. The 40GB hard drive onboard also allows you to digitally copy your CDs (or for you younger folks, your MP3 with a direct port) so you can load an enormous library of music and never have to fiddle with cds again. The King Ranch leather is really nice, smells great and feel comfortable. I got a Retrax rear bed cover that slides to any position and that's a reall convenience when carrying things that you want access to at different points without having to move stuff around. The 6 speed auto transmission is very smooth. I've heard a lot of discussion about power. You know, I have the 5.4 V8 and I have had to kick it a little to get on some highways while entering on-ramps, and I have had all the power I have needed. Sure, the Toyota is a dragster, but who needs that? The Ford is extremely solid; the boxed frame and through-joint welds make that happen. I didn't care for the overly aggressively forward-tilting headrests; I found them unacceptable, and I wanted rear DVD playing capability anyway, so I had the dealer in Chattanooga replace them with the DVD headrests which are more vertical. They said Ford had to provide the more projecting headrests to meet a 5 star crash test. I agree with safety, but come on, can't the ergnomics engineers give you some adjustments to account for different size people so that our necks can be comfortable while driving under normal circumstances? Don't get me wrong, the 2009 F-150 is a sensational vehicle (truck or car) and I should know; I have owned Chevy (2008 Avalanche), Toyotas, Chryslers. They all have their pluses; I did feel that the 2009 F-150 is a big advance all at once, though; Ford is raising the bar for quality pickup trucks.

At first I agreed with you on the headrests. I thought there was no way I could live with them, but after 4000 miles behind the wheel I don't mind them at all. The steering wheel also felt a mile away from me, but now it feels just right. It can be hard getting used to the new safety features, but one day they may come in handy. The seatbelt buzzer drives me nuts, but I have chosen not to disable it.

Howdy F-150 Folks,
I got the white sand tri-coat metallic. It was the closest to GM's Cadillac pearl-looking color on the Escalade. We considered the green, but I am glad we stuck with the white sand. The closer you get, the nicer it looks.

Glad that other person got used to the headrests, I think I would have gotten a kink in my neck with the original equipment there. Glad I have the DVD headrests. And yes, I do wish the steering wheel telescoped. That would be a nice upgrade for 2010 or 2011, if Ford engineer's are monitoring this.
Thanks for the welcome!
